When bookmarking from resources within Primo, the Online Resource link defaults via the link resolver/Open URL. We would like to be able to include a direct (platform specific) link to the resource when creating these bookmarks. The URL information in bookmarks is important as it allows us to get richer data from our reports, which inform processes and decision making (e.g., e-textbook use across lists, items on specific platforms such as Oxford Law Trove).
Within the library team, we add an additional step to workflows and open the resource before bookmarking to ensure that the direct platform URL is pulled through to the bookmark. However, colleagues outside the team (e.g., academic staff) are unlikely to do this, adding steps to our workflows when reviewing lists.
It would be great if we could get the richer URL data when bookmarking from our catalogue search (Primo) without additional workarounds.
Hi - I have scheduled a review all the bookmarking ideas in the coming weeks. We intend to put more choice in the power of the librarian on how bookmarks default, so please stay tuned over the coming weeks.
Hello, thanks for your idea. We will be placing this in our upcoming Bookmarking theme. Thanks, the Product Team
