This is is not currently in our near term development focus. It has been placed into moved to the longer term backlog.

Ideas may be graduated from the backlog as we get through the ones that are planned.

    Possible solution?

    - Run an All List Items report of all items not in your library catalogue, and export it to .csv
    - Run your metadata refresh, wait for it to finish.
    - Run an All List Items report of all items not in your library catalogue again, and export it to .csv
    - "Subtract" your second list from your first list, using something like the match function in Excel.

I don't do this as I don't consider the data of what gets linked to be of much concern.

Our Acquisitions team use the All List Items report to check for Core items not on the catalogue, in parallel with the reviews function, to pick up on items we don't have in stock but that should be purchased. This is done weekly, or twice weekly at the start of semesters.

Part of our receiving workflow includes updating Aspire with new editions when they arrive.
I am unsure how a metdata refresh linked items report would assist with this.

Yes, this would be useful. Since we changed over to https: as a requirement of our Moodle-Aspire LTI to function, our URLs are all over the place, and our Google Analytics figures might be skewed.

This is not currently in our near term development focus so it has been moved to the longer term backlog. It will be merged with a similar existing idea.

Ideas may be graduated from the backlog as we get through the ones that are planned.

We would like to improve the ability to display as much info that we have about a resource even if it is not the specific format that was originally bookmarked.

A redesign of how we display holdings would probably be required and this is not currently in our short term development focus.

This idea so it has been moved to the longer term backlog. It will be merged with a similar existing idea.

Maria - do your Bib records for print items on your catalogue contain a link (Marc 856) for the corresponding eBook version? If you generate a bookmark from this print record, then the eBook link will be included in the bookmark Web Address.

Our metadata team add the corresponding eBook link to print Bibs when they arrive. They used to search manually for print generated bookmarks on our branding of Aspire that needed an eBook URL inserted, and add in the URL one at a time, but this slowed down the receiving process.

For bookmarks that need to be retrospectively edited (i.e. for when there are already print Bib generated bookmarks on your Aspire, but missing an eBook link - this happens regularly when the eBook is purchased arrives AFTER the print copies), there is a way of doing this using an all List Items export, and matching this with exported data from your LMS - print Bibs edited between a certain date range that contain a URL. You just need the LCN and the URL.

You then match this data (in Excel) from your LMS with the All List Items export, and do a match on the LCN using VLOOKUP, which formats the data nicely. You end up with a spreadsheet that has the bookmark URL in one column, and the eBook URL that needs to be inserted into the bookmark metadata in the next.

Sorry if this sounds a little complicated - but it's not that difficult if you see it being done! What LMS do you use?
