Automatically bookmark videos as "Online Resources"
During our pilot phase, we've noticed that when academics add YouTube or BoB videos to their lists, they generally forget to tick the "Online Resource" box - possibly because they are used to it happening automatically when they bookmark, e.g., articles and ebooks.
It would be useful if online videos could be automatically recognised as "Online Resources" by the bookmarking tool.
At present this does not happen because "audio-visual document" resource type can include, e.g., DVDs listed on a Library catalogue (not an online resource). However, could there not be a workaround similar to the one for ebooks (see: http://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/205644351-How-the-Online-Resource-button-works…
20 votesWe have introduced an improvement when bookmarking audiovisual items. Previously the 'Online Resource' box was not automatically ticked when a user bookmarked an item with a URL (eg a YouTube video), so items often needed to be manually corrected. Now when a user bookmarks these items, if a URL is detected, then we will automatically tick the box, ensuring that a View Online button appears when the item is added to a list.

A small but helpful tweak - could the My Lists list default to an A-Z Title sort.

Populating user registration fileds.
When a user loggs in for the First Time, we know who they are.
We can send their name and email address to prepopulate the Registration Fieds in the form.
Please can this functionality be developped for Shibboleth Users.17 votesTalis Aspire Reading Lists now supports the automatic creation of user profiles when a user logs in for the first time, and the continued update of that profile if changes to names and email addresses are made in university identity management systems. More information can be found in this article: https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002537997-Automatic-Profile-Creation-in-Talis-Aspire-Reading-Lists

Prepare for RDA
We notice that RDA records (Resource Description and Access), which are now beginning to appear, are not being bookmarked fully with publication details into Aspire. This is because RDA uses MARC field 264 instead of 260, and Aspire doesn't yet 'recognise' 264. Please could Aspire be made 'RDA-ready' for when we, and no doubt many other customers, move to RDA.
We haven't yet implemented RDA but plan to do so soon, and we are already accepting records for downloading that are in RDA MARC format.

Recent Changes Dynamic Link
At the moment clicking on the "Recent Changes" link to see the changes that a tutor has made to a list leads to a static link with a "Description" (e.g. "3 items added"). Could this link be made dynamic so that we can see which items have been added, etc?

Reviews 2 - Make "All instances of this item" the default view in the item pane
“All instances of this item” should be made the default view, when looking at the review history notes within each item in Reviews 2.
This cross-list functionality where the Acquisitions team can see each other’s review notes is one of the improved aspects of Reviews 2.
Being able to view notes on "All Instances of this item" saves time, particularly with multiple lists submitted for review by the same owner, where there is considerable crossover of the same texts appearing on different lists, and the Acquisitions decision has already been made.
Having it as the default view, instead of just…

Give the option to switch off the "list bibliography" option
While we appreciate it is still in beta mode we would like there to be an option to switch off the "list bibliography" feature. The version of Harvard used here does not match the approved style for RGU and therefore it could cause problems for students by misleading them. Until we have chance to speak to academic staff and ask them to weight the pros and cons we would like to have it turned off.

Invite List Publisher in draft status
We have been working with academics over the Summer and have needed to 'invite list publisher' when a list is still in draft status. However, the 'Invite list publisher' link only shows when a list has been published. Is it possible to add this function to draft status?

Enable "Share item" for List Publishers / editors - New List View/Edit
At present, if you are a List Publisher / in edit mode in the new List View/Edit, you don't have the option to 'share' an item from the drop down menu / ellipsis when you're in a list. See my screenshot "No Share".
The only way you can bring this up is if you go to View > As Student, and then the option to Share the item is visible. See my screenshot "Yes Share".
It is primarily list editors and academics who need to share items, particularly with the library if there is a broken link or the content…

Filters in review remain set
It would be useful if the filters a reviewer applies were saved to their profile or at least existed for the session while they were performing the review.
Currently the filters reset if the reviewer makes changes to a resource requiring filters to be reset to their preference each time.15 votes -
Dropdown menu when editing lists so references can be moved to a particular week rather than needing to be dragged and dropped
A few academic staff at our institution have found it frustrating and time consuming to move references from one week to another when editing their reading lists using the existing drag and drop method. It would be helpful if, in edit mode, there was a 'move to' option whereby a reference could, for example, be moved from Week 1 to Week 9 without the need to drag it all the way down to the bottom of the reading list. It would be good if this could work along the same lines as the 'create & add to list' option when…
14 votesNew List Edit allows the ability to copy and paste items from your reading list from one place to another, as in the example from Week 1 to Week 9. The traditional drag and drop is also available as well as the ability to move items up and down a list. Full details are available in this article: https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001909917-Editing-lists-New-List-Edit-

Add new edition alert to library view
At TAUG (02/2013) a new alert was shown that will tell academics creating a list if they're adding an item for which a newer edition exists.
We feel it's librarians who will want this more than academics, and it would be very useful as an addition to the library view of the list - probably in the reviews screen. Please can it be added there?

New legal and law resources types
We bookmark a lot of law cases and reports. But currently there does not seem to be a suitable description for them under Resource Type. Is it possible to have Resource Types 'LegalCaseDocument ' and 'Legislation'? This will make much more sense to users instead of bookmarking a law report as a web page or an article. Thank you.

Extending the Bookmarklet's coverage
The extension of the number of publishers, platforms and online services with which the Bookmarklet is compatible will be a key requisite for widespread academic adoption, and I've a number of suggestions:
1) Customers should be able to view a domain level report, filterable by time span, of the 'most popular' domain sources of Bookmarked items in their tenancy
2) Customers should try to agree a priority list of publishers and platforms to assist Talis in identifying the priorities for the expansion of the Bookmark's coverage
3) Talis should publish (for customers) a guide indicating how the Bookmark works on…
14 votesAlthough we have not implemted the exact specification that Richard describes here, have released the dynamic bookmarklet which has considerably extended the coverage of the bookmarklet and more importantly, we are now able to include new sites much easier and quicker. The Bookmarking Recognisers Suggestions forum will be used going forward to collect suggestions for new sites to include in the coverage.

Only cross-reference Books in "View Breakdown" Reviews 2 - or display the Material Type
The “View Breakdown” figures should only cross-reference Books that appear on other lists.
It should not cross-reference resources that have been created as Chapters. From an acquisitions perspective, books are treated very differently to chapters.
If only a chapter is needed, it can be scanned and the digitised reading provided to the students at a low cost.
If the entire book is needed, we will purchase the required number of copies.
The View Breakdown tool cross-references books that appear on other lists AND chapters (with the same ‘parent’ ISBN) – without making any visible distinction between the two. This means…

Ability to set default link for Online Resource button
At present when bookmarking electronic material the default order for links used for the Online Resource button is:
- Open URL
- DOI
- Web Address
It would be useful if this could be configured for individual tenancies, as some customers may wish to have a different default order.

Switch off forced reviews for library staff editing lists
Only acadmic staff need the force review tool and not library/admin staff. Library staff edit numerous lists - we now have to start and complete reviews for our editing.
