Resource Type
Make the drop down menu for "Resource Type" customizable.
We have a lot of different resource types that lecturers want to bookmark, such as music score, law report, school resources.
Some Law and Music lecturers are against using the system because of this.104 votesWe would like to add some additional resource types.
However, this is not currently in our near term development focus so it has been moved to the longer term backlog.
Ideas may be graduated from the backlog as we get through the ones that are planned.

Move a number of bookmarks to a list all in one go
It would be good if there was a way to move a number of bookmarks to a list all in one go, rather than having to add them individually.

Would it be possible to add in a field so that we can include the details of translators please?
I think that having a translator option is really important: students otherwise risk referencing their sources incompletely, and the role of the translator is severely diminished if their details are not included. I'd be so grateful if this could be considered.

Multiple holdings on one bookmark
It would be really helpful if we could have multiple holdings, or LCNs against one bookmark.
Here at RHUL we have a large literature collection, and where an academic has indicated the specific edition is not important, we have a situation whereby we have to have multiple bookmarks for the same title in order to accurately alert students to all the different copies that might be available.
This ends up not only being time consuming to manage, but looks extremely messy on the list.

Manual entry - fields appear automatically according to resource type selected
Would be helpful, when using manual add, if once you had selected the resource type, a standard set of entry fields could appear automatically, as appropriate to the type of resource, e.g. for article, 'author', 'page numbers', 'part of' & for journals, 'volume', 'date' etc.

Extend the Copy to my bookmarks function
Enable academics to copy an entire list worth of bookmarks from an existing list to their bookmarks folder.
Really useful where lists have been created by admin or library staff and then passed on to the academic to manage.23 votes -
Bookmarking on iPads
Our academic staff are all being given iPads at the start of the 2018/19 session and will be encouraged to use these as much as possible
It would be really great if a bookmarking tool could be developed for Safari on iPads (or possibly even a list management app?!?) so that we could give our academic engagement a real boost.
22 votesWe are working on bookmarking functionality alongside our List Edit improvements, this will reduce the reliance on the bookmarklet feature and enable more resources to be accessible in the List Edit context. When this feature is released, we will revisit this idea to understand if it still has relevance.

Add a word to .RIS conversion feature to Talis
Many of our academics comment that they would be more likely to use Talis if they could simply upload their word document and automatically populate a list in the same way they can with Endnote. There are online tools which convert word files into .RIS format. If Talis could develop this functionality it would go a long way in promoting the service to the academics.

Not having the chapter title overwritten when performing a LCN/ISBN lookup
Currently, when updating a chapter bookmark by performing a LCN or ISBN lookup, the chapter title is lost and the book title appears in the chapter title field.
Surely somebody has raised this issue before?
Thank you.

Alert list owners/publishers when library adds new item to their list via automatic email
When academics order new titles for their resource list, we put an internal note to that effect in our order records and acquisitions add that title to the relevant Talis list once the books have arrived. Please can this action by the library trigger an automatic email to the list owner and list publishers to say that new items have been added to their list by the library and that they should add the necessary details to the new entry as needed? This would save so much time and we wouldn't need to send a separate email to those academics…

More refined translation of 700 field
Talis is currently treating the 700 MARC field as follows:
If 700$e=Author, Talis puts the name found in an Author field
If 700 $e =Editor or Editor of Compilation, Talis puts the name found in an Editor fieldAll fine so far. However, if anything else is found in $e, Talis defaults to using the Author field again.
We use the 700 field to indicate donors and former owners of donated collections. As per OCLC guidance we indicate that this 'person' is a donor or former owner via the $e field. But these people are not displaying as authors within…

Improvement of resource type
Some academics suggest to add 'Standard' (it is used as a resource type especially in the major of Science and Engineering) and 'Conference paper' in the item resource type

Adding a bookmarked item to multiple lists
It would be really useful to be able to add a bookmark to several lists at once. For example a new edition is being added to a list but they still need to keep the old edition as well, being able to add the bookmark to several lists at once (and publish the changes) would be wonderful.
This was an idea someone else submitted back in 2014, but we've had requests from academics and also as part of some changes to our acquisitions processes that have meant i'd like it to be reconsidered.
9 votesTo be able to find and replace all instances across lists is something we are considering within our continuous improvements. We are keen to understand the importance of such a feature across the user group so encourage others to consider this idea and support if it is something that they feel strongly will have a positive impact.

Importing RIS files into existing lists

Creating a bookmark and adding item (direct) to a list
When creating a bookmark and adding item (direct) to a list, enabling either ‘search’ function for the list or list them alphabetically or by most recently used. If you have many lists it can be hard and time-consuming to locate your list.

Deleting bookmarks
If you create lots of lists, as library staff at Stirling do, then you create hundreds and in some cases thousands of bookmarks. We'd like to be able to bulk delete bookmarks which are no longer required. Currently you have to select per page of 25 and then remove from view from My Bookmarks This is very time consuming.

An 'edit notes and importance' button to be added within the screen for an individual item
Would it be possible for an 'edit notes and importance' button to be added within the screen for an individual item?
We are finding that when we are reviewing and re-editing lists that often the individual item needs a note adding to it and we are unable to do this from within the item screen itself and have to open a different page or a new tab in order to enter the note required. I have attached a screenshot of the item screen - what we would like(if possible) is an 'edit notes and importance' button added next to the…8 votesThis is not currently in our near term development focus so it has been moved to the longer term backlog. The ability to add two sets of page numbers per entry because books often have the notes at the back of the volume.
We would like to ability to add two different sets of page numbers on an entry.
Often books will have their notes at the back and when we are scanning chapters and attaching to a bookmark entry we need to register the two different page ranges.
Having all the info on the bookmark is vital for the students for referencing and also saves us time when doing CLA returns.

In-line Box of Broadcast (BoB) materials
BoB is a system that is going to be very important in the HE sector in the near future - either from the National BoB or locally implemented. Cambridge Imaging and BUFVC are the external partners to talk to on this.
