  1. Subscribe to email alert for changes to any list within My Lists

Raised on behalf of UCL student:

Rather than have to subscribe to an RSS feed on each individual list, be able to subscribe to an EMAIL summary of any additions/deletions from any list that has been added to the My Lists area. Some additional explanation from the student below.

:More info in the email the better, link to the page, what the change was (added or removed items). But reading lists are probably only changed a couple times a year really so not sure about a weekly or monthly update. Because they may not be changed that often, while ideal,…

With enhancements with the integration of reading lists into the VLE/LMS students are more actively guided to areas of the list they need to be looking at and reviewing as part of their study.

We are going to decline this idea due to the low number of votes and the length of time this idea has been open with no further interest.

If this is still an area you would like to see further enhancements made please do raise again.

  2. Notification of broken links

Is it possible for Aspire to background run a check of all URLs to ensure that there is something at the end of them. We realise that this is a deminishing technology- but not finding what they are looking for really irritates the students

Unfortunately it is not possible for us to run an effective link checking service. Many of the links in Aspire are IP-location specific – i.e. they will work for students on campus or behind ezProxy but to Aspire they will appear broken. This makes it impossible for us to effectively implement link checking technology.

  3. 'Check your lists' reminder to list owners

Is is a way to force list owners (who have become Aspire publishers and claimed their reading lists) to periodically look at their lists and confirm their currency.

This might be something like an automated email which says 'please click here to check your reading list is up to date' and then an option to click 'yes this reading list is up to date' or 'the reading list needs updating' - whichever response is clicked is then stored on the system.

We will not be focusing on this due to low votes. This idea has been declined and moved to the archive.

  4. Control over notification of list ownership

We need to be able to set the default for "send an email when someone is made a list owner" to yes or no.

We need to have control over the customisation of that template, including the from address, reply-to address, subject line, and main body.

We need to have the option at the point of assigning a list owner for "email this user" or not (initially ticked or unticked according to our global default) for us to override where necessary.

  5. a pop-up - to be able to message staff

It would be useful to be able to communicate with staff e.g. to remind them to publish their lists and also to request reviews. Staff appear to work on a list and intend to continue but then fail to finish off the process. A pop-up might be a useful way to remind them. Maybe a pop-up that we can customise? We wouldn't want it popping up all the time.

  6. Interim communications of purchase requests

Until the 'blue skies' project is delivered- but ater the basic export tool- we would vote for each purchase request to be individually emailed to an address we can give you. This allows the request to be targeted to individual subject librarians.
