  1. Ability to mask nodes in the hierarchy that have no reading list associated with them

It would be useful to be able to mask nodes in the hierarchy which contain no reading lists associated with them. It is frustrating for the end user, particularly when browsing, to find no list at the end. It has a negative impact on student experience rather than acting as a spur to academic staff to create a reading list. In addition, to make use of Talis Aspire as a marketing tool for prospective students we feel that having nodes without lists showing as being detrimental.

We will not be focusing on this due to low votes. This idea has been declined and moved to the archive forum. In addition from an existing student and actual user’s perspective, the user might keep searching, trying to find it. The current behaviour allows the user to reach the end of the journey and discover there is nothing linked for that module.

  2. "Type" drop-down in "add node" to be limited

When you add a node, the "type" dropdown should only include the options you have chosen to use - we have been clear in choosing School, Department, Module as our hierarchy levels, so I expected just these three to be in the "type" choices. I realise this is hardly a critical change, but it would be much more user-friendly (and prevent messy node things happening!), and I'm just surprised it's not already the case. Thanks.

We will not be focusing on this idea now due to low votes in 2012 Ideas Survey.

  3. Attach to hierarchy at create list stage for all list editors

Attaching hierarchy at the end of the process is another step to show academics which is often forgotten, it would be useful that much like in the global admin users options academics could attach to hierarchy when they create their list. This simplifies the process.

    Hi Jolene,

I’m declining this idea because this is already possible. When creating a list, there is a “Select hierarchy” option which enables a user to link a list to the hierarchy at list creation. This is dependent on that user having “Attach list to node” permission agains their role. Your list publishers have this permission in your tenancy. Please raise a support ticket if you are having issues with this.

    Regards,
    Keji

  4. Improve node moving options

It would be useful to be able to search for modules by code (e.g. we want to search for all LT* modules and move them to the new LT department) and then tick the ones we want to move. We cannot currently search before moving nodes, we can only browse before moving, which means I have to browse down into every single department to check for them.

Furthermore, when we choose "move to", we cannot search for the LT department as it will not search with less than three characters. That's understandable for names, but if we had the option…

  5. Removing filing under stopwords in the hierachy

Modules that start with The are filed under 't' in the listings.
