Multiple catalogues on Talis
In addition to being able to access our library services, students at our university have access to another major collection which has its own separate catalogue.
We're always trying to promote this facility and it would make a huge difference if we could link multiple catalogues into Talis so users could see what resources were available to them via this service
We will not be focusing on this due to low votes. Whilst this idea appears to be highly voted, it was only voted on by 7 institutions with some disproportionate voting. the votes were averaged across voting institutions.
This idea has been declined and moved to the archive.

It may be worth noting this issue for future review, as there is the possibility that more universities will outsource library services, increasing the likelyhood/frequency of multiple catalogue scenarios. Given the impact that this would have on the Aspire architecture, it might deserve some consideration at a later date to avoid creating technical debt.

We have a campus in Cornwall which is shared between two institutions Famouth and Exeter University. At this site the library uses the Falmouth catalogue system so all our Exeter lists for this site have to be manually created with web links to the other catalogeu which is very time consuming.
It also means we cannot run the Book Metadata Refresh job as it would link all these records ot the main catalogue, so this update would have to know which cataloguwe it was linking to which I am sure would make it complicated.

This would be help us to get our money's worth from our resources and increase the usefulness of the online reading lists to our students.
