Ability to sort contents of lists by author, date, etc
It would be useful to have a sort button on a list to enable the list creator and/or student to sort, in particular by author or date of publication. Also the ability to sort within the sections of a list would be useful.
Improvements to list view include more “group by” options and also the ability to filter using a keyword. This should greatly improve the ability to find items on the list. The introduction of a list bibliography means that lists can be displayed in a a selected citation style which is more appropriate to referencing.
I know this is an old idea but we have had requests recently from academics for the ability to sort sections alphabetially by author and/or at least by importance (core readings at top).

We'd like to sort list sections too, but are happy with alphabetical by title approach. All resources should have a title of some sort, but not perhaps an author or date. We're also concerned about the way in which Aspire currently harvests authors from our catalogue, whereby in the vast majority of cases both forename and surname are merged into Aspire's Forename field.
We acknowledge other institutions will prefer and author or date approach.

some academics have voiced concern that their Aspire lists do not reflect unit programme reading lists - author first. It would be useful if a list publisher could choose how their list was displayed

Are there any thoughts on how items without author (e.g. websites) should be displayed in the event of a sort by author function? Should they appear at the beginning or the end of the newly sorted list?

At Sussex we have had consistent feedback from academics asking for the default display in their Aspire reading lists to be by author first, rather than by title, as this is how course readings are listed in course handbooks or when referenced in the course VLE site.
