Edit library and student notes within Reviews 2.0
We'd like to resurrect this idea from 2014 but see it incorporated into Reviews 2.0 http://ideas.talis.com/forums/32805-talis-aspire-reading-lists/suggestions/5335311-ability-to-edit-note-for-library-from-within-the#{toggle_previous_statuses}
Our team would be keen to have ability to edit library and student notes within the Reviews 2.0 screen rather than having to revert to the original list which is time consuming.
We use library notes in our acquisitions workflow as this information is populated in the all list items report and you can see actions taken for books not available in the catalogue (whereas review 2.0 comments aren't visible in this report). The ability to update and edit these notes within the reviews system would be invaluable and makes sense to be able to do that within one screen.

Editing Student and Library notes under Reviews would greatly improve our workflow. We hope to update our reading lists with information for students who are blind or visually impaired, saving us time travelling from Reviews to the list and back. https://cookie-clicker2.co

At a time that the term "Library 2.0" has attracted attention in the professional and academic press of library and information science, there appears to be a lack of consensus as to what this nomenclature actually means. At one extreme Library 2.0 is purported to be primarily concerned with the implementation of web-based tools, and thus supports the view that its drivers are intimately related to technology. Being able to edit the Student and Library notes from within Reviews would certainly streamline our workflow. Amongst other tasks we are hoping to work through our reading lists adding information for print impaired students and this would save us moving from Reviews to the list and back again.

This is a great idea and should be something Talis should implement as soon as possible. Library notes are useful 'notes for library staff' for tracking updates to a bookmark for a range of issues, including:
a) purchasing of items - we add library notes to say when and what has been ordered. Such as what licence an eBook is, or whether there print copies on order and as such, that is why the bookmark is not linked to an item in the catalogue. The review notes are handy, but review notes are accessible to view unless you are in the review screen, which is not something we always are. Library notes also appear on a range of reports which can be useful - review comments are not.
b) Library notes can be used as a way of tracking the progress of an item, for example if it is not yet published, or if it is on order for digitisations.
As part of the acquisitions process we'd add a library note to the bookmark, and it would be great if this was possible from the review screen so reduces the need to edit the list, find the bookmark and then change the note.
There are also good reasons to change the student note when ordering new stock (or not), for example stating that both eBook and prints are available, or that the item is not held by the library and forwarding them to inter-library requests.
We should also be able to change the importance of items from the review screen.
Basically, you should be able to edit a bookmark in every way from the review screen without having to manually go to the list, edit the list and edit the relevant field there. Users should not have to keep switching between two interfaces to achieve this. You can already edit the meta-data from the review screen, and presumably that would have been an even greater ask than this.
Thank you.

Has there been any progress on this development? This is something our library is also very interested in having. Not just to communicate with academics, but it also makes it easier to remove notes to our team that have subsequently been actioned.

We are still very keen to see this implemented, editing notes is a key part of our review and acquisitions process and having to go out out of Reviews to complete this step is not efficient. Is there news on this feature?

This is a great idea and many of our subject librarians would be very happy if this could be implemented soon. It would also be good if we could edit the Importance status of the items as well. This would save time and improve workflows.

We at Worcester still really want to see this implemented soon. The suggestion of automated dates by Catherine is a good one. Our team date and initial our library notes but we have no way of knowing when these are added by other staff/requestors as to when the request was actually made or by whom.

With Reviews 2.0 now out of Beta we'd really like this idea reconsidered.

If Reviews 2.0 could also automatically log the date the library note was written (in the same way it does for notes added when setting an outcome), that would be really useful too. We have odd library notes that can date back several years (due to not having been deleted); if staff have not initialled or dated these, we have no way of knowing if the notes are current or need action taken.

Agree with all earlier comments. This would streamline our own workflows and improve communications between colleagues in other teams (e.g. scanning and collections management).

I agree with earlier comments. We are just about to implement Reviews and one of the main drivers is to streamline workflows and ensure that we are easily able to action library notes (for purchasing new items and placing core resources on short loan

Thumbs up for this. Frustrating having to exit Reviews 2 and then go into List Edit mode to edit the student or library note.

This definitely makes a lot of sense - at the reviewing stage, we'd like to be able to do everything without coming out of the screen if possible. I think it would be a good thing to try to incorporate at this Beta stage.

The lack of detailed communication around individual items at begining and end of review process and on the start of a second review is a major bugbear.

This would be extremely useful, as it would ensure that library notes which have been attended to get cleared from the review for future.

We also would like to add 'Note for Library' from the Review screen for the same reasons as stated in the original request. We have only found out recently that the Academics cannot see what notes we have added on the review outcome.
Also any previous comments on the review seem to disappear and there is no archive or history of what has been visited previously.
