Resource Type
Make the drop down menu for "Resource Type" customizable.
We have a lot of different resource types that lecturers want to bookmark, such as music score, law report, school resources.
Some Law and Music lecturers are against using the system because of this.104 votesWe would like to add some additional resource types.
However, this is not currently in our near term development focus so it has been moved to the longer term backlog.

Display both print and ebook holdings for one bookmark for the same title (an archived Idea for 2013)
Here at Sussex we're very keen to have this Idea, archived for 2013, available for voting in the 2014 Ideas Forum: http://ideas.talisaspire.com/forums/32805-talis-aspire-reading-lists-ideas-archive/suggestions/4381768-display-both-print-and-ebook-holdings-for-one-book.
We're increasingly buying ebooks in addition to print copies, and it would be extremely useful, both to Library staff and students, to have a single entry for a specific work in Aspire, but with linkage to alternative editions. This would provide users with a choice of available formats depending on their needs, as well as promoting the Library’s collection.
72 votesWe would like to improve the ability to display as much info that we have about a resource even if it is not the specific format that was originally bookmarked.
A redesign of how we display holdings would probably be required and this is not currently in our short term development focus.
This idea so it has been moved to the longer term backlog. It will be merged with a similar existing idea.

"Refresh all book metadata" option to catch bulk changes to e.g. ebook URLs
We have recently applied a change to all our ebook URLs on our catalogue.
I would like Talis to add an option to refresh all my book metadata, by re-polling our catalogue for every book item in Aspire with a Local Control Number, updating any fields which have changed.
Without this, I have to identify and manually update all ebook records to update the URLs.

Activity audit (knowing who's done what)
We expect a system to be accountable to an extent, and find it hard that there are no Aspire logs accessible. For instance, when a node has been deleted, there's no way of knowing who has deleted it (apparently our only method is to "ask around"). If lists are edited/deleted/archived, an administrator may well need to get the details of when this happened and who did it, if there are questions/audits/complaints/etc. Even if we are ourselves not able to do this, Support should be able to, so that we can get the information that we need. We cannot be fully…

Move a number of bookmarks to a list all in one go
It would be good if there was a way to move a number of bookmarks to a list all in one go, rather than having to add them individually.

Organising 'My Bookmarks'
It is becoming really important for our academics to be able to organise their bookmarks. We know tags are the currnet thinking with filters- but some academics have a mental block against this. They are so used to having very structured resources/citations and without the ability to oraganise and sort (things like author- title- date- type- notes/modules ....) the resources within their 'library'
46 votesWe are currently refactoring the My Bookmarks screen to work in a way that allows users to sort and filter more effectively. Although this won’t include tagging or sorting yet, it does provide the framework for further options in this area.

Ability to move multiple items simultaneously
It would be nice to be able to move more than one item at once within a list. Some imported reading lists have a large number of items which currently can only be moved one by one, which is rather laborious.

Library Review report - review outcomes
- Review decisions - for a given date range, an all-List Item report on Review Outcomes (e.g. 'How many "On order" items were created from Review in August 2010')

Export dashboard numbers to excel
Ability to be able to export all of the dashboard numbers into a .csv or excel file. At the moment the only way to access this data that I know of is to individually open each list and click on the dashboard. This is very time consuming and we would like to easily compare dashboard numbers across the lists to see which lists are being used. We can then approach lecturers with low dashboard numbers.

Selective copy-and-paste of list items and sections
With a dynamic course environment, existing lists sometimes need to be merged or disaggregrated to support changes in module or course provision.
At present, the facility to 'copy to my Bookmarks' enables a Publisher to copy list items one-by-one to their My Bookmarks set and then add them one-by-one to a new destination list using the Edit feature.
This can be a very laborious and time-consuming process when large scale item replication is required.
Aspire could include a list View which enabled list Publishers to selectively tick the items in a list (including a one tick option for an entire…

Ability to edit, and check links and notes from same page
It would be useful to have the option to check links and notes at the same time as editing the metadata for a bookmark.

Display sections on their own
Related to the idea of compressing/opening sections (in this idea: http://ideas.talisaspire.com/forums/32805-talis-aspire-ideas/suggestions/3160575-compressing-sections) I'd like some facility to be able to link/jump to a specific section or sub-section of a list, and display it in a way that is uncluttered by the rest of the list.
Ideally this would mean jumping to a section and the display automatically compressing all the other sections. The user could expand / navigate to them if they wanted.
Alternatively the user is taken to a version of the display that only contains the specific section, with a hyperlink back to the full list.
The reason…

Customisable Text in Role Invite
Rather than be stuck with the set text provided out of the box, it would be good if each site could customize the text and language they would like to use when sending out the Role Invitation email.

Extend the Copy to my bookmarks function
Enable academics to copy an entire list worth of bookmarks from an existing list to their bookmarks folder.
Really useful where lists have been created by admin or library staff and then passed on to the academic to manage.23 votes -
Change 'review complete' notification recipient
Many of our lists are added and sent for review by library staff or temps. When we complete the review the notification goes back to them rather than the relevant academic even when the correct list owner has been assigned. It would be useful if there was an option for staff to alter the recipient at this stage by pasting in the correct email address.

Add a word to .RIS conversion feature to Talis
Many of our academics comment that they would be more likely to use Talis if they could simply upload their word document and automatically populate a list in the same way they can with Endnote. There are online tools which convert word files into .RIS format. If Talis could develop this functionality it would go a long way in promoting the service to the academics.

Ability to manage user permissions
After some discussion we feel it would be useful to have the ability to control user permissions. There may be instances where we would like to give library staff the ability to publish lists but would then like to remove that permission or change their role.
16 votesThis is a valuable idea and user management is an area I would like us to investigate further in the future.
However its not in our near term development focus, so it has been moved to the longer term backlog. Ideas may be graduated from the backlog as we get through the ones that are planned.

Improve Dashboard visibility and exportability
The Dashboard contains analytics on usage, editions, metadata, views, etc, which would be very useful if it was more widely available. The current restriction to List Owners or List Publishers prevents other relevant and appropriate interested parties for accessing and assessing this data.
In a Library managed model distributed across several campuses, we are not yet at the stage of giving teaching staff List Publisher roles and incorporating Reviews into our workflows. We also rarely have a single teaching member of staff, which makes List Owner not a useful feature either, being restricted to one person who has also created…

However, this is not currently in our near term development focus so it has been moved to the longer term backlog.

Changing text for request review reminder when clicking Publish
Where we have the option to ask list editors to request a review when they click publish, it would be useful to be able to control the message as we would want editors to request reviews if they have books they would like to order.
