Display of chapters
When we add specific chapters to lists we'd like the title of the book as well as the title of the chapter to be automatically included in the display. We currently manually edit entries to include both, for example.
The Reformation Parliament, IN: Parliament and politics in Scotland, 1235-1560 - K. M. Brown
This think would make it easier for students to identify the chapter when browsing a list75 votesThis is now available in the new list view.

Additional reports: list and item usage statistics
We would like to suggest two additional reports for the Reports menu that would provide list and item usage statistics globally across departments and modules with the aim of demonstrating the value of reading lists and impact on item usage. One report for Page views and one for Item Views.
Key fields we would like to see included are; page view (main list page), module code, module title, department, the number of students on the course, number of items on a list and for Item Views the item format.
54 votesList and item usage stats are now available through Advanced Management Information System (Advanced MIS). If you would like to know more than please reach out to your Account Manager. https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006213238-Talis-Aspire-Advanced-MIS-Overview

Report a problem (with this resource)
When users click on a broken link, they should have the option of reporting the problem. "Report a problem (with this resource)" which, when taken, should include the link and basic metadata for the resource with the option for the user to provide usual name/email/description information.

A keyword search for e.g. book titles within Talis Aspire
The ability to search for book titles within the Talis Aspire tenancy from a search box, thus allowing users to see if books are on other lists.
38 votesWe have added in functionality to the All List Items report to allow you to search by title and ISBN allowing you to identify where book titles are being used across your tenancy.

Display list in an alternate style
Ability to display lists in a specific citation style - Many of our courses use the Harvard style and although lists can be viewed as a bibliography and exported in specific citation styles, our course organisers would like to be able to provide a consistent approach in the way they are presenting their reading lists. They would like the option to present the list itself in the Harvard style, i.e. by Author first not Title.

Bulk Archiving
We would like to be able to bulk archive reading lists for a given time period at the end of September each year.
Our policy is to keep the current year's reading lists public in Aspire until the end of September for the benefit of any students that are doing re-sits. However, the only bulk option for archiving lists is only available during the Rollover of lists to a new time-period. We rollover lists at the end of the Summer term (June) so that academics or library staff can start editing the list for the next academic year. So from…

Export list as printable document (e.g. txt, rtf, doc, pdf)
From an academic ...
At the risk of becoming unpopular...I would like to be able to use the online reading list to populate a module handbook - but this new version does not have an easily copyable format.
35 votesWe have now implemented and released the ability to export to PDF. http://support.talisaspire.com/entries/24916642-Aspire-Release-22nd-July-2013

Automatic linking to new titles ordered
I know this idea has been discussed before but can't find it as an 'idea' as it would be a very valuable and time-saving feature for Aspire to recognise when an item bookmarked from Amazon, for example, is ordered and becomes available from the Library or is in fact already in the Library. Academics won't want to go back in to a list and bookmark and add new titles to their list neither will library staff .
32 votesWe have now implemented this feature which allows you to refresh the metadata for Books in Aspire: http://support.talisaspire.com/entries/24323813-Aspire-Release-20th-June-2013

Online buttons on the main list page to be managed by list editor rather than resource type
by adding a check box field in the record for any resource. Checking this box would display an online resource image on the list main page which would link to the web link in the record. This would also allow users to manage situations where for example an 856 link does not actually go to the full text, as they could uncheck the box.
We have many digitised resources which are book chapters or articles, this would enable us to give them the correct resource type and still have them showing up as online resources in the list.
A further…
31 votesWith apologies for the delay in getting this implemented, the ability to manually set the online resource button has been implemented with the ability to set which link the button will send the user to.

ability to filter by library notes
We have a number of long lists and academics tend to add notes to lists such as 'please buy new edition' which on a 300+ item list is hard to find - could the reviews screen be updated to allow you to filter by library notes or at least sort the table by the library notes column?
28 votesWe are investigating the possibility of this capability in the reviews refresh theme

customisation of the reference management software used in the export button
Currently, clicking the export button in a reading list defaults to either saving an RIS file, or opening in EndNote.
I suggest that the functionality of the button should be customisable to reflect the preferred institutional reference management software.
26 votesI’m closing this idea as we have now enabled Refworks direct export from a reading list as well as “My Bookmarks”. We will not be investigating Endnote support unless there is a demand for it. We will however, look at addresssing the capability to turn off the export to refworks option where not applicable

Tag items
Is it possible to be able to tag / mark items as 'Electronic Resource' for online journal articles and e-books etc and then be able to re-group the list to display all electronic resources together?
24 votesWith the New List View items are now tagged with View Online to indicate they are an electronic resource.

Automatic request review
Currently, a list can be published without a review being requested. Our preferred option would be for an 'automatic' review to be sent whenever a list was published for the first time, or indeed updated. Ideally, we want Aspire to force a review to library staff whenever a list is created/edited and published so that the library is aware of new list content.
23 votesThis is now done, please contact support if you would like this option enabled

In Chapter and Article records, set the "Search the library for other formats/editions" option to use the metadata for the book etc.
The bookmark for a book chapter or journal article currently searches the library for other formats/editions based on the first name of the author of the article or chapter, which is unlikely to fulfil the point of the search. It would be better if the bookmarks for chapters and articles used the metadata for the book or journal they are part of to search the library catalogue as this is more likely to bring up relevant results.
23 votesWe have completed this so that when searching using the “View other formats/editions” the search now uses the metadata for the book/journal rather than searching by chapter/article.

'Request review and publish' option
I’ve been getting feedback from tutors recently who are ‘adamant’ that they’ve published lists, but have then been chased as owners of draft lists. I suspect this is to do with them requesting a review and assuming that publishing happens simultaneously.
We don’t want to configure our system so that we get sent an automatic review for every single published list, and we want to encourage lecturers to take ownership of their lists, publishing and reviewing appropriately.
If they had an option to 'Request review & publish' this would really help make clear to them what was happening when they…
22 votesThis idea is now complete with this option being available in New List Edit.

Display the Edition metadata in the reading list view
Current the reading list title, author(s) and publication date are displayed in a reading list. The user needs to click on the title to see the remaining metadata information, such as Edition. This is an idea to also display the Edition data (if available) in the reading list view. Exposing the edition data at a glance would be useful to the student, as well as the list owner. It would help to keep the list up to date, and assist with list auditing and quality checking.
22 votesThe new list view now displays the Edition information in the front screen. This resolves the initial idea that was raised.
For those interested in the Editors showing this is currently in beta and detail can be found in this idea, please do add your votes to this so we can help you keep up to date on this: http://ideas.talis.com/forums/32805-talis-aspire-reading-lists/suggestions/9766701-include-editor-in-the-front-screen-list-view

Make the OpenURL link for articles optional
The OpenURL link will only work successfully for articles which are found in your electronic journal subscriptions. For articles which are in open access journals or in your print collection, the OpenURL link will always fail, which may lead your students to believe they cannot access the article.
Make the display of the OpenURL link for articles optional so it can be suppressed for open access, print or other articles which will not be found via your link resolver.

Don't make users create a profile when signing in to view a digitisation
At the moment, if you "sign in" from a reading list item page to view a digitisation, you have to create a profile first.
Most users who sign in to view a digitisation are students, who have little to gain from creating a profile on Talis Aspire.
In our experience, any step which delays access to full text will deter users.
I would like the profile creation to be skipped or deferred for users who are "only" signing in to view a digitisation.

"Link To" value included in All Items Report
Could the Link To value be included in the All Items Report i.e. either blank, DOI, OpenURL or Web Address.
This would really simplify our metadata checking, particularly for improperly formed URLs through EZproxy, but also for confirming our preferred linking method is being used by academic staff.
An example would be if we moved a journal subscription to a new platform - we could filter the All Items Report CSV on Journal title (or ISSN) and DOI or Web Address (confident that OpenURL would manage the platform change external to Talis)>
21 votesWe have introduced extra fields into the All Items Report to allow you to identify the "link to’ addresses that are used. https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/205717002-All-List-Items-Report

Issue with chapters “Part of” / “Is part of” at review stage.
We have found a problem with the use of the “Part of” / “Is part of” function particularly at the review stage. Resources bookmarked and then amended to provide the details of a particular chapter show in the review stage as a chapter and it is the chapter information which is displayed to the reviewer rather than the resource it is part of.
This is problematic because multiple chapters from the same book can appear on a list in this format but it is not immediately clear that they are all part of the same resource and therefore have to…
