  1. Changing text for request review reminder when clicking Publish

    Where we have the option to ask list editors to request a review when they click publish, it would be useful to be able to control the message as we would want editors to request reviews if they have books they would like to order.

  2. Option to complete a review without notifying tutor / inputter

    In the "All Reviews" section of Aspire it would be useful to have the option to "mark as completed" without notifying the person (tutor or library staff) who'd requested the review

  3. Adding a bookmarked item to multiple lists

    It would be really useful to be able to add a bookmark to several lists at once. For example a new edition is being added to a list but they still need to keep the old edition as well, being able to add the bookmark to several lists at once (and publish the changes) would be wonderful.

    This was an idea someone else submitted back in 2014, but we've had requests from academics and also as part of some changes to our acquisitions processes that have meant i'd like it to be reconsidered.

    To be able to find and replace all instances across lists is something we are considering within our continuous improvements. We are keen to understand the importance of such a feature across the user group so encourage others to consider this idea and support if it is something that they feel strongly will have a positive impact.

  4. Suggested improvements to My Notes & Reading Intentions

    The summary list of "my notes" and "my reading intentions" displayed on one's username profile page do not expire or archive. Further they seem disorganised and are without a date stamp to indicate when a note was left. Instead the lists grow to contain notes and data from every old list. The lists would get very long and disorganised due to intentions and notes left from past reading lists, leading the profile summary page to become of little use to students.

    For the My Notes and Reading Intentions sections, I recommend:
    1) sorting (e.g. by date);
    2) display the date…

    Improving this for students is something we would like to do, but is likely to need a theme in this area.

  5. DOIs in Reviews 2.0

    We've recently moved to Reviews 2.0, and a colleague spotted that DOIs in article bookmarks do not have hyperlinks in the new review screen (screenshot attached to illustrate). We thought this was a bit strange since elsewhere in Aspire Reading Lists DOIs are hyperlinks (such as clicking on bookmarks) and I believe DOIs were hyperlinks in the old Reviews 1.0 screen.

    When completing reviews, our staff check all links to electronic resources for functionality, so the inability to follow a DOI through to the article seems to defeat the point of the review. It would be lovely if this could…

  6. Editing text in invitations

    When sending invitations to academic staff, we would like the standard text in the message template to be customisable to reflect our tenancy's configuration; without having to modify it each time we send it. For example, we have just asked Talis to add 'View Dashboard' to the role of List Creator. Currently, that does not appear in the list of permissions in the standard message template for that role.

  7. An 'edit notes and importance' button to be added within the screen for an individual item

    Would it be possible for an 'edit notes and importance' button to be added within the screen for an individual item?
    We are finding that when we are reviewing and re-editing lists that often the individual item needs a note adding to it and we are unable to do this from within the item screen itself and have to open a different page or a new tab in order to enter the note required.   8. Show lists linked to units within the hierarchy

    When viewing the hierarchy, it would be useful to quickly see which units have lists attached within a department. Would enable library staff to target units where there were no lists.

  9. Gravatar + user profiles

    Prompted by comments from academics creating a profile.

    At the moment it is compulsory to use Gravatar in order to add a profile picture. Is it possible to have an alternative option to just upload an image file directly? An image is a friendly personalisation of lists, but the extra steps of joining Gravatar are putting people off!

    Low priority as it’s a cosmetic function, and the user can complete the task

  10. Report on number of lists linked to higher levels in hierarchy than node list is linked to

    We have a requirement to report on the number of lists linked to a faculty and number of lists linked to a department. Our hierarchy goes faculty>department>module. Lists are directly linked to modules. The Hoerarchy Snapshot Report allows us to report on number of lists attached to amodule but not number of lists attached to a higher level in the hierarchy.

  11. The ability to add two sets of page numbers per entry because books often have the notes at the back of the volume.

    We would like to ability to add two different sets of page numbers on an entry.

    Often books will have their notes at the back and when we are scanning chapters and attaching to a bookmark entry we need to register the two different page ranges.

    Having all the info on the bookmark is vital for the students for referencing and also saves us time when doing CLA returns.

  12. Allow customisation of List Owner email

    When you make someone owner of a list, we need to be able to know what is sent to them and be able to customise this notice. The invite system allows customisation of part of the message (I have a separate request in here to allow full customisation and to be able to set a different default text), and the list owner alerts should also be customisable - both by setting a new default in an admin console, and on the fly when a particular list is given an owner.

    We do intend to investigate the introduction of a dictionary tool which would enable configuration of local messages. This will be reviewed and prioritised following the completion of the Db re-architecture but is not a current priority

  13. Resource type: database

    There is an entry for this under 'Bookmarking', but we would like to have Database as a Resource Type. Academics often want to refe students to resources at the Database level (Westlaw, Land of Lost Content, British Standards)

  14. Allow the default invite text and subject line to be set at tenancy level

    At the moment the default email invite text and subject line are fixed - on completion of this story, they will be configurable at tenancy level.

  15. Allow users to request roles rather than waiting to be invited

    At the moment an academic has to wait to receive an invite to edit a list from a system administrator. Academics who are proactive and have discovered the system have no way of gaining an entry point.

    On completion of this story they would proactively be able to request various roles. The request is added to a queue and at some future point an administrator can approve or deny the request.

  16. In-line Box of Broadcast (BoB) materials

    BoB is a system that is going to be very important in the HE sector in the near future - either from the National BoB or locally implemented. Cambridge Imaging and BUFVC are the external partners to talk to on this.

  17. Improved handling of withdrawn items/records

    Keeping the academic (for their list) and the library (for Aspire as a whole) informed that copies or the resource itself are no longer in the catalogue, and ensuring students are not presented with a broken link in the Catalogue.

    Dashboard 2.0 already includes some functionality to inform academics about availability of materials on their list and there are plans to bring this out of BETA soon.

  19. Library Review report - submission to completion

    Submission to Completion reporting - for a given date range, report on how long library reviews took from the time of academic request of a review of a List to library completion. (Currently the All Reviews screen itself does not timestamp the Completed action; but libraries are likely to want to report on their processing times for submitting lists [perhaps against SLAs, KPIs and the like].)

  20. Improved handling of expired sessions

    When a user has left their Aspire view inactive for a period of time sufficient for their session to expire, clicking on a permissions based action (like an Edit action) produces the plain text error

    You do not have permission to edit this resource (403)

    Could such a expired session request be routed instread back to the Tenancy appropriate login? screen?
