  1. Ability to use Bookmarlet tool from AquaBrowser

We're currently using the AquaBrowser search and discovery platform as our Beta Catalogue and considering using as the default catalogue from the beginning of the new academic year. So knowing that we would be able to bookmark from AquaBrowser and link through to resources from within this interface is an important considerations.

  2. Search for list

Rather than just allow direct URL links or browse an ever changing structure of the Uni it would be good if Aspire offered a search within our tenancy for specific lists.

  3. Acquisitions Reporting

An essential part of Aspire will be the Acquisitions Reporting. Although- hopefully not a 'new idea' as such (Sussex and I expect other universities have discussed ideas around the Acquisitions Reporting with the development team) I thought it would be useful to open this idea out for discussion here to get an idea of how this part of Aspire will be developed.

How do you see the Acquisitions Reporting working? Is tagging individual resources an option? Would academics have the option to indicate how many copies to buy? Can 'not in stock' items be highlighted in some way on the…

There is now an Acquisitions review report where users can query by date added, item type and importance. Data can also be exported to CSV for offline processing.

Users can now edit bookmarks by clicking “Preview” and then “Edit resource”

  5. Export file

Any interim export file needs to have the following fields (more may follow)

    ISBN/ISSN/DOI ...
    Title
    Journal title
    Auther
    Publisher
    Pub year
    Vol/Part/page
    Edition
    Recommended number of copies
    Date of projected use
    On other Aspire lists?
    Expected number of students
    Already in stock Y/N
    Indicitive price
    Academics name
    Academics email
    Notes

You can now do a CSV export of a list from the list outline page

  6. Recommendations management page

It would be good if there was an Aspire page which could be accessed by all those with the authourity to approve a recommendation. This page would have Approveed or Rejected.

Standard emails; pulling information from the requesteer's details and the details of the requested items would then be automatically sent. Those approving or rejecting would be able to edit the email.

  7. Save and publish

it is important to remember that there are academics who want to maintain a 'dynamic link' as well as those who will want to work on a draft and publish later. I think the 'save and publish' and 'Save draft' way forward may make sense.

  8. Purchase suggestion choices

Here at Plymouth we think our list would be:

    Essential
    Recommended
    Background / Optional
    Suggested student purchase

(I'm guessing it will change- but for now that is the general concensus)

This is now complete – customers can opt to choose custom states (contact us and we will configure it for you) or accept the defaults (which are as described in the idea)

  9. Reviewing a List View

In the Publishing & Acquisitions Workflow Preview- the Title column gives the brief view of an entries metadata. We would like to be able to work online from this page and it would be really helpful to show the ISBN for an item. This will make it quicker to identify the correct item on our supplier database for ordering and hopefully provide a means for automatic linking to items that are not in stock once an order has been created on our LMS.

This is complete (see http://blogs.talis.com/aspire/2010/02/04/aspire-release-4th-february/) and will includes an identifiers column, which will display ISBN, ISSN, DOI as well as a LCN (Local Control Number). If present, the LCN will link into the library catalog. Seeing an item has an ISBN but no LCN might indicate:
    a) It isn’t in the library catalog
    b) The record isn’t linked to an item in the library catalog

  10. Inform bookstore of changes to all lists

Our campus bookshop would like to be notified everytime a list is modified. Ideally they would like to be emailed. (Apologies for posting this in the wrong place the last time- but it was my first post!)

The bookstore can subscribe to the “Changes to all lists” RSS feed from the home page of every Aspire tenancy.

  11. My Bookmarks display in Edit List view

When recently creating a resource list for a Spanish course- several items bookmarked had the same title- but one was a book and the other an audio-visual item- but look identical in My Bookmarks on the right hand side of the Edit List view as only the information from the title field is visible. Can you show the material type in My Bookmarks in this view?

The bookmarks displayed in List Edit mode now have the resource type displayed with them.

  12. Manual Entries

I can see manual entries being a problem with academics as there isn't a means of editing the details once you have added it to My Bookmarks. If you find you have made even one typo- once you have added to My Bookmarks or direct to a list- you would have to create a new manual entry from scratch in order to correct the error.

Would it be possible to build in a function to edit Manual entries in My Bookmarks?

If you click on “More details” on a manual entry, the option is now available to edit.
