Enable "Share item" for List Publishers / editors - New List View/Edit
At present, if you are a List Publisher / in edit mode in the new List View/Edit, you don't have the option to 'share' an item from the drop down menu / ellipsis when you're in a list. See my screenshot "No Share".
The only way you can bring this up is if you go to View > As Student, and then the option to Share the item is visible. See my screenshot "Yes Share".
It is primarily list editors and academics who need to share items, particularly with the library if there is a broken link or the content…

Number of items count to (new) list view
The old list view had a count of the number of items appearing on the reading list in the top left hand corner of the list. This was a useful feature and we note it is not available in the new list view. Could it be returned?
9 votesWe have added back in the number of items on a list along with further break down of the number of item types on a list.

Sorted list of time periods when running reports
We have a substantial number of academic time periods each year, so we now have a list of 76 time periods for the years 2014 - 2018 and will shortly add another 17 for 2019.
When using All Lists or All List Items reports, it's possible to limit the report by time period, but the time periods are not displayed in any discernible order and it's very difficult to use this field as a filter in any practical way.
We would like to be able to order the time periods in the drop down list:
(a) in the same or…8 votesWe have introduced an improvement to the time period filter on the All Lists and All List Items reports. When you click on the time period filter to select your time periods, time periods will now display in alphabetical order.

All List Items report to include url from 'is part of' section
We often have bookmarks for book chapters where the url to the book as a whole is entered into the 'is part of book' section, without a separate url to the book chapter entered into the chapter section. This is done as it is sometimes not possible to link directly to a chapter. In these cases, we add a student note along the lines of "Please read pages 57-69".
In the All List Items report, DOI fields that are present in the 'is part of' section are included (though not in a separate field), but the url present in the…

"Link To" value included in All Items Report
Could the Link To value be included in the All Items Report i.e. either blank, DOI, OpenURL or Web Address.
This would really simplify our metadata checking, particularly for improperly formed URLs through EZproxy, but also for confirming our preferred linking method is being used by academic staff.
An example would be if we moved a journal subscription to a new platform - we could filter the All Items Report CSV on Journal title (or ISSN) and DOI or Web Address (confident that OpenURL would manage the platform change external to Talis)>
21 votesWe have introduced extra fields into the All Items Report to allow you to identify the "link to’ addresses that are used. https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/205717002-All-List-Items-Report

add a 'back to top' link in a reading list.
To help with long lists instead of a cumbersome long scroll back up.
11 votesWe're pleased to announce the release of a new feature that users had asked for. When viewing a reading list and starting to scroll down the list, we now have a ‘Back to top’ button that will allow users to jump to the top of the page with one click.

Make the publish button more visible
A lecturer has said that it would be useful to have the publish button more visible on the list (when not editing). Could we have a separate button for publishing rather than going to edit and publish?
4 votesThe Publish button is now in its own banner at the top of every list making it clearer what the status of the list is and how to publish it.

Automatically bookmark videos as "Online Resources"
During our pilot phase, we've noticed that when academics add YouTube or BoB videos to their lists, they generally forget to tick the "Online Resource" box - possibly because they are used to it happening automatically when they bookmark, e.g., articles and ebooks.
It would be useful if online videos could be automatically recognised as "Online Resources" by the bookmarking tool.
At present this does not happen because "audio-visual document" resource type can include, e.g., DVDs listed on a Library catalogue (not an online resource). However, could there not be a workaround similar to the one for ebooks (see: http://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/205644351-How-the-Online-Resource-button-works…
20 votesWe have introduced an improvement when bookmarking audiovisual items. Previously the 'Online Resource' box was not automatically ticked when a user bookmarked an item with a URL (eg a YouTube video), so items often needed to be manually corrected. Now when a user bookmarks these items, if a URL is detected, then we will automatically tick the box, ensuring that a View Online button appears when the item is added to a list.

Only cross-reference Books in "View Breakdown" Reviews 2 - or display the Material Type
The “View Breakdown” figures should only cross-reference Books that appear on other lists.
It should not cross-reference resources that have been created as Chapters. From an acquisitions perspective, books are treated very differently to chapters.
If only a chapter is needed, it can be scanned and the digitised reading provided to the students at a low cost.
If the entire book is needed, we will purchase the required number of copies.
The View Breakdown tool cross-references books that appear on other lists AND chapters (with the same ‘parent’ ISBN) – without making any visible distinction between the two. This means…
13 votesWe have added Resource type(s) to the ‘Student no.:’ – ‘View Breakdown’ screen within Reviews as a consultancy request from London School of Economics. It was felt others may find this a useful addition so has been enabled for all tenancies.

Bulk Archiving
We would like to be able to bulk archive reading lists for a given time period at the end of September each year.
Our policy is to keep the current year's reading lists public in Aspire until the end of September for the benefit of any students that are doing re-sits. However, the only bulk option for archiving lists is only available during the Rollover of lists to a new time-period. We rollover lists at the end of the Summer term (June) so that academics or library staff can start editing the list for the next academic year. So from…

'Request review and publish' option
I’ve been getting feedback from tutors recently who are ‘adamant’ that they’ve published lists, but have then been chased as owners of draft lists. I suspect this is to do with them requesting a review and assuming that publishing happens simultaneously.
We don’t want to configure our system so that we get sent an automatic review for every single published list, and we want to encourage lecturers to take ownership of their lists, publishing and reviewing appropriately.
If they had an option to 'Request review & publish' this would really help make clear to them what was happening when they…

New editions displayed when bookmarking
In reviews 2.0 and dashboard analytics there is an alert which shows that newer editions are available. Would it be possible to display this functionality to academics when they are bookmarking

Ability to select lists for rollover
Add the ability to rollover selected lists rather than all lists in a teaching period. We frequently have units for example which run in semester one in one year, and then semester two in the next. Hence, we need to be able to rollover semester one units to different teaching periods.
7 votesWe have now released targetted rollover, this allows you to choose and select the lists you wish to rollover rather than needing to do all that are attached to a time period. You can read more in this article: https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000915358

Expand list of academic disciplines and/or make the list customizable
Expand list of academic disciplines and/or make the list customizable.
We have received a request to add Built Environment to the list as there is no equivalent discipline available
4 votesTalis Aspire Reading Lists (TARL) – Profile screen in Talis Aspire Reading Lists no longer asks for ‘Main Discipline’, this was based on feedback, that it didn’t cover enough variation or localisation on subjects. As it wasn’t mandatory, no meaningful trends could be gleamed from the data available so we decided this was no longer adding value and have therefore removed. We will keep an open watch on this to see the feedback that we get from this being removed.

Dropdown menu when editing lists so references can be moved to a particular week rather than needing to be dragged and dropped
A few academic staff at our institution have found it frustrating and time consuming to move references from one week to another when editing their reading lists using the existing drag and drop method. It would be helpful if, in edit mode, there was a 'move to' option whereby a reference could, for example, be moved from Week 1 to Week 9 without the need to drag it all the way down to the bottom of the reading list. It would be good if this could work along the same lines as the 'create & add to list' option when…
14 votesNew List Edit allows the ability to copy and paste items from your reading list from one place to another, as in the example from Week 1 to Week 9. The traditional drag and drop is also available as well as the ability to move items up and down a list. We would like to be able to see the academic year in the list drop-down when adding a bookmark using the "add to list" option.
At present we have several year's worth of lists visible within Talis Aspire. Academics can not tell which list is the current year list when adding new items to their lists using the "add to list" option while editing. It would improve their ease of use if they could see which list is for which academic year.

Saving bookmarks before deleting items in new list view
It would be useful to have the 'add to my bookmarks' function on the edit view, so that you can save the bookmark in case of later need on that view before deleting an item from the list.
Currently, to save the bookmark you need to be in the published view and then switch to the edit view to delete the item. It would be useful to have this all available in edit when working on lists which have been added without bookmarks already in place.
2 votesIt is now possible to save an item “Add to my bookmarks” from the edit view of a list before you remove from the list.

Additional reports: list and item usage statistics
We would like to suggest two additional reports for the Reports menu that would provide list and item usage statistics globally across departments and modules with the aim of demonstrating the value of reading lists and impact on item usage. One report for Page views and one for Item Views.
Key fields we would like to see included are; page view (main list page), module code, module title, department, the number of students on the course, number of items on a list and for Item Views the item format.
54 votesList and item usage stats are now available through Advanced Management Information System (Advanced MIS). If you would like to know more than please reach out to your Account Manager. https://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006213238-Talis-Aspire-Advanced-MIS-Overview

Display of chapters
When we add specific chapters to lists we'd like the title of the book as well as the title of the chapter to be automatically included in the display. We currently manually edit entries to include both, for example.
The Reformation Parliament, IN: Parliament and politics in Scotland, 1235-1560 - K. M. Brown
This think would make it easier for students to identify the chapter when browsing a list75 votesThis is now available in the new list view.

Include edition field in item reports
The all items report includes most of the metadata that belongs to an item, but does not include the edition statement. Doing so would make it possible to see at a glance what items are added to lists and how they are formatted - identify edition statements in words, for example, which have implications for reference formatting. The editions functionality in reviews does something different, and does not allow you to create reports like this. Given how few fields there are in item records, we should be able to report on all of them.
2 votesWe have released a change to the All List items report export, you can now view the following data:
Edition
This will help you identifying editions used in reading lists across your tenancy.
