  1. Resource type: DVD

    Could DVD (and maybe other audio-visual resource formats such as CD-ROM) be added to the list of resource types?
    Our health and sports science academics often include them on reading lists and would like them to be clearly differentiated from books.

    I think this would be much more meaningful for students using the lists than 'audio-visual document'.

    Although you can specify 'dvd' in the format field, this isn't very prominent on the page.

  2. On 'recent changes' include who published the list

    At present clicking on 'recent changes' shows the name of the list, the date, what was added. It would be very useful to see the email address of who actually published the list to keep track of activity.

    Using the All List Report does allow you to see who last published a reading list. As changes to a list may have been done by library staff updating a link it may confuse if this is in the front end under ‘recent changes’ as to why the list was published by someone other than the academic. We will keep an open watch on this idea though.

  3. Resource type: database

    There is an entry for this under 'Bookmarking', but we would like to have Database as a Resource Type. Academics often want to refe students to resources at the Database level (Westlaw, Land of Lost Content, British Standards)

  4. QuickAddBookmark sequence prompts to Create/Create and add to list

    QuickAddBookmark is good but would be great if, rather than just creating a bookmark, it prompts to Create/Create and add to list.

    At the moment, staff need to remember to add the bookmark to their list after creating the bookmark. If they drag & drop, they may forget to Set Importance which messes with our acquisitions workflow.

    With Create/Create and add to list buttons at the end of the sequence, it would be instinctive to choose the list, set the importance, add notes to student/library etc. as required.

  5. Selective copy-and-paste of list items and sections

    With a dynamic course environment, existing lists sometimes need to be merged or disaggregrated to support changes in module or course provision.

    At present, the facility to 'copy to my Bookmarks' enables a Publisher to copy list items one-by-one to their My Bookmarks set and then add them one-by-one to a new destination list using the Edit feature.

    This can be a very laborious and time-consuming process when large scale item replication is required.

    Aspire could include a list View which enabled list Publishers to selectively tick the items in a list (including a one tick option for an entire…

  6. Communicate result of Review Outcome to list owner

    Once a list review has been completed the requester is e-mailed and informed that the review is complete. However s/he cannot see the results of the review, the helpful comments and information that have been added by library staff. Could the link in the message be changed so that it takes the requester to the results of hte review, rather than to the reading list.

  7. Resource Type - 'Newspaper' (or similar)

    We're conscious of the risk of mixing up format and type, but both for the purposes of distinguishes materials within a list (and for citing those materials correctly) we'd like to see a Type which describes 'articles' which are not peer-reviewed academic journal articles, but news stories or discussion pieces in newspapers, magazines and professional or trade publications.

  8. Direct update of module hierarchy from SITs

    There are a number of Talis Aspire clients using hte SITs student information system. The module data on our VLE is updated directly from the SITs files. Would it be possible to develop a similar facility bewteen SITs and Talis Aspire?

  9. Extend the Copy to my bookmarks function

    Enable academics to copy an entire list worth of bookmarks from an existing list to their bookmarks folder.
    Really useful where lists have been created by admin or library staff and then passed on to the academic to manage.

  10. Resource Type - 'Social media' (or similar)

    We've not been able to identify a better label for this, but are open to suggestions. The intention is to distinguish blog, forum, social media and web 2.0 type content from 'traditional' Web Site and Web Page types. It's the difference between referencing material on the BBC News site and referencing a debate on an internet forum, or the discussion which follows a blog post

  11. An 'edit notes and importance' button to be added within the screen for an individual item

    Would it be possible for an 'edit notes and importance' button to be added within the screen for an individual item?
    We are finding that when we are reviewing and re-editing lists that often the individual item needs a note adding to it and we are unable to do this from within the item screen itself and have to open a different page or a new tab in order to enter the note required.   13. Include the Ability to Add the 'Format' field within a bookmark

    Sometimes when bookmarking the 'Format' field will be automatically included in the record. When it is not, there is no option from the drop-down to add it. This must be a simple thing to rectify, and is causing us to use workarounds when listing eBooks where the field is not present.

  15. Show lists linked to units within the hierarchy

    When viewing the hierarchy, it would be useful to quickly see which units have lists attached within a department. Would enable library staff to target units where there were no lists.

  16. Adding a favicon

    When we go to our tenancy of Aspire, there is no favicon, however it should be using our Brunel University one.

    Adding this should either be included in implementation, or should be added to the branding console (though it's not the sort of thing you want to change often, more like the main institution logo).

    The capabilities in TADC utilise checks against services such as xISBN to determine latest editions. We are investigating utilising the capabilities which drive the Quick Add and Dashboard 2.0 features (based on data served from NBD) in the reviews refresh we are investigating at the moment. Deeper integrations with suppliers are not currently in scope for the improvements we would like to make, but they are certainly areas of investigation for the future.

  18. My Notes - To be able to identify which List the Item is from

    When a student clicks on their profile and looks at 'My notes', the notes are displayed with a link to the item the note was placed on, however when clicking through to the item there is no indication as to what list or lists the item is on.

    This almost defeats the purpose of a number of notes that a student may choose to place on an item if they are then unable to identify which list the item they placed that note on came from.

    I agree that this could be confusing, especially if a student has used that feature in anger and made a lot of notes.

    However, This is not currently in our near term development focus so it has been moved to the longer term backlog.

  19. Manual entry - fields appear automatically according to resource type selected

    Would be helpful, when using manual add, if once you had selected the resource type, a standard set of entry fields could appear automatically, as appropriate to the type of resource, e.g. for article, 'author', 'page numbers', 'part of' & for journals, 'volume', 'date' etc.
