  1. 'Request review and publish' option

    I’ve been getting feedback from tutors recently who are ‘adamant’ that they’ve published lists, but have then been chased as owners of draft lists. I suspect this is to do with them requesting a review and assuming that publishing happens simultaneously.

    We don’t want to configure our system so that we get sent an automatic review for every single published list, and we want to encourage lecturers to take ownership of their lists, publishing and reviewing appropriately.

    If they had an option to 'Request review & publish' this would really help make clear to them what was happening when they…

  2. Ability to archive multiple completed reviews

    In "All Reviews" the option to archive multiple completed reviews rather than, at present, one at a time

  3. Switch off forced reviews for library staff editing lists

    Only acadmic staff need the force review tool and not library/admin staff. Library staff edit numerous lists - we now have to start and complete reviews for our editing.

  4. Date item added to the reading list to be visible in Reviews 2.0

    While this is not crucial to our workflows, we have regularly found the date within the “added column” useful information. We realise that the list within 2.0 automatically sorts with the most recent items at the top, but the date added has in the past provided useful contextual information.

  5. Reviews 2 - Make "All instances of this item" the default view in the item pane

    “All instances of this item” should be made the default view, when looking at the review history notes within each item in Reviews 2.

    This cross-list functionality where the Acquisitions team can see each other’s review notes is one of the improved aspects of Reviews 2.

    Being able to view notes on "All Instances of this item" saves time, particularly with multiple lists submitted for review by the same owner, where there is considerable crossover of the same texts appearing on different lists, and the Acquisitions decision has already been made.

  6. Only cross-reference Books in "View Breakdown" Reviews 2 - or display the Material Type

    The “View Breakdown” figures should only cross-reference Books that appear on other lists.
    It should not cross-reference resources that have been created as Chapters.

    From an acquisitions perspective, books are treated very differently to chapters.

    If only a chapter is needed, it can be scanned and the digitised reading provided to the students at a low cost.

    If the entire book is needed, we will purchase the required number of copies.

    The View Breakdown tool cross-references books that appear on other lists AND chapters (with the same ‘parent’ ISBN) – without making any visible distinction between the two. This means…

    We have added Resource type(s) to the ‘Student no.:’ – ‘View Breakdown’ screen within Reviews as a consultancy request from London School of Economics. It was felt others may find this a useful addition so has been enabled for all tenancies.

  7. ability to filter by library notes

    We have a number of long lists and academics tend to add notes to lists such as 'please buy new edition' which on a 300+ item list is hard to find - could the reviews screen be updated to allow you to filter by library notes or at least sort the table by the library notes column?

  8. Print View Facility

    Some of our staff find it very helpful to print lists to use while they review them. This is particularly useful on very long lists when the review cant be completed in one sitting - it gives staff an immediate view of where they got to. Can this please be added to 2.0?

  9. Easier way to remove completed lists from the Review screen

    We have a large number of lists in the Reviews screen in the acquisitions area. We want to reduce it because the list takes so long to load.
    However, whenever we set a list to "Remove From View" the whole screen reloads. Therefore removing half a dozen lists can soemtimes take half an hour of staff time.
    Additionally, we have a large team of staff adding lists. therefore, in the time it takes to remove lists, more have been added, meaning that we are unable to get on top of this issue.

  10. Ability to report on number of reviews against a list during a specific time period

    To run a report of all lists which generates the number of reviews carried out on the list. Ability to refine this report to specific time frames.

    The All Reviews report allows you to download reviews data that contains each review that has been completed on a list. Using the download you can filter by time period and then list title to get a figure for how many times a list has been reviewed in a given time. This should meet the requirements of this idea but please do raise a new idea or a support ticket if you would like to discuss in more detail.

  11. Show on the Review screen when list was last reviewed, or which are new items

    At the moment in the Review screen for any individual list, there is nothing to indicate when a list was last previously reviewed, or which items have been added since the last review. (You can obviously see items in the order they have been added; but in order to know which are new since the last review, you need to know the previous review date, and that doesn't display - you have to remember to go and search for it in Reviews before starting to review the list.)

  12. Pending Digitised Content Requests to display in Review list

    While a list is been reviewed it will be good to have an extra column in Review lists, where the pending digitisation requests could display. This will make the reviewer aware that there is a pending digitisation request instead of placing the book in a Reserve Collection.

  13. Changes to student numbers visible in review history

    As lists are now being resubmitted for the next academic year, student numbers on modules are changing, and that means we may need to purchase more copies of books. At the moment we can't see if student numbers have gone up from within Talis - we have to log each reading list in a spreadsheet and check this every time. If changes to student numbers were visible in the review history, this would make our workflow much more streamlined and we wouldn't need the spreadsheet workaround.

  14. Have a "global" or "select multiple" option for completing reading lists.

    We are currently set for receiving lists for review every time changes are saved. As our copyright team are working through, we have 500 lists coming into our review screen all of which need to be completed for rollover, but that we don't need to actually do any work on. If we could select these and "complete all selected" this would be much faster - at the moment we're going into each one individually, which is taking a lot of time.

  15. Bulk assign a set of reviews to a reviewer

    There is no way to bulk assign a set of reviews to a reviewer. For example if you add 12 ebooks to different modules and publish the lists, you will then need to assign all these lists for review so you can review the item and close the review. This will flag that the list does not need attention. At the moment you need to filter by requested review and unassign then assign the book to yourself for each book.

    This takes time. It would be better if there was a check box on the screen so you could select…

  17. Display order of items on review screen

    Items are currently displayed on the review screen sorted by their date added. The most recently added item appears at the top which means in many cases items for review appear in reverse order from the list view. We would like to suggest that when reviewing a list items should display in the same order as they appear on the actual list. We would also like to see section titles included on the review screen.

    The changes we are making in the review refresh theme will include section information but will not change the display order due to new indicators and item grouping

  18. Reviewing draft list - difficult to read text with a grey background

    When reviewing a list the item area is greyed out if the review is for a draft list. It's not easy to read the text with a grey background. The only way to stop a draft list from being a draft is to publish it but we don't want to publish a list until a review is completed. If it’s necessary to warn staff that the list being reviewed is a draft list, we would like this information to be displayed in some other way.

  19. Filters in review remain set

    It would be useful if the filters a reviewer applies were saved to their profile or at least existed for the session while they were performing the review.
    Currently the filters reset if the reviewer makes changes to a resource requiring filters to be reset to their preference each time.

  20. Previous review data for items which appear on live lists

    It would be useful to view previous review data for items which appear on live lists (i.e. list(s) it is on and the review outcome). This would allow acquisitions staff to quickly gauge whether there is sufficient stock for the total number of students or if an item has already been ordered for another course.
