  1. Share local marketing collateral

    Related to my idea on 'sharing experiences engaging with academics'- I've also been thinking about how Aspire is marketed to academics and students before- during and post-launch. Customers will be producing local marketing material- and Talis are also looking at generating material that customers could use. Would a place where all of this material could be gathered and shared be of interest?

  2. Use an API to let users provide feedback/ideas around the Talis Aspire site

    Would be great if this ideascale could be pulled into an existing products microsite (such as http://www.talis.com/aspire) using some sort of API- either at sever or client level.

  3. Add bookmark directly to a list

    It would be useful to be able to 'refresh' My Bookmarks list from within the Edit List view as there may be an item that you want to add to a list but that you haven't yet bookmarkleted. If you move away from the list and Bookmarklet the resource- at the moment it is necessary to Save and close the list you are working on and go back into Edit List in order for the new Bookmark item to appear in the list in Edit view.

  4. Add a resource directly to a list without adding to My Bookmarks

    My Bookmarks is an excellent feature for developing a store of resources for future use but when you know that you want to add 5 specific items from the catalogue- for example- you may not want or need to store these resources in My bookmarks. Using the same Bookmarkleting tool- would it be possible to have the choice of either adding directly to the list OR storing within My Bookmarks?

  5. Option to apply a Citation Style to a resource list

    In the early days of discussion around the development of Talis Aspire- we talked about displaying resources in a list using a choice of Citation Styles.

    Although there is further metadata in the Availability- Buying Options and Notes view of an item- I think it would improve the look of the list and be useful to all users (students- academics or library staff) to see the full reference as a citation.

    List Bibliography feature allows the contents of an Aspire list to be viewed in a citation style

  6. Adding a manual entry to a list

    Although most published material can be found on a catalogue or database and imported using the Bookmarklet tool- there are some occasions when an item can't be found in this way- for example- an article from an obscure journal or unpublished material. In Edit View there is a the option to add a 'New Section' to the list - it would be useful to have a similar option to add a 'New Resource' to the list.

  7. Status of New Resource Lists and Acquisitions

    When a new list is created and saved- it is instantly live. In order to allow the list creator to decide when the list is finished and ready to be made public or ready for the library to acquire resources for the course- other options for status of a list are needed.

    Suggestions: Draft- Finished- Published- Archived

    Idea: A status 'Finished' could automatically generate a report to the library so that they can acquire the necessary resources for the course. This kind of report would need to include course information as well as some indication around the importance of each…

    We are in progress with a story which will allow users to edit in “draft” and only publish to the world when they choose. However this does not include an Archived state – if this is still required please raise a new idea

  8. Managing 'My Lists'

    Could My Lists view be developed to include managing lists- showing status of lists and maybe to be able to filter lists by status or by department?

    Regardless of the extent to which the library or academics are involved in the creation of lists- someone- somewhere will need to see an overview and be able to provide statistics.

  9. Ability to use Bookmarlet tool from AquaBrowser

    We're currently using the AquaBrowser search and discovery platform as our Beta Catalogue and considering using as the default catalogue from the beginning of the new academic year. So knowing that we would be able to bookmark from AquaBrowser and link through to resources from within this interface is an important considerations.

  10. Automatic Save when Creating / Editing a list

    Several times when creating a list- we have lost changes due to not saving the list before leaving the page to add further resources to My Bookmarks. Different resources open up pages in a new window and it is easy to move away from a list you are editing.

    Is it feasible to have changes to the list save automatically as you add an item or remove one?

    This is part of the publish workflow where saves will be automatically persisted without a user having to click “Save”. There will be a new publish button that the user clicks to make all their automatically saved progress available to the world. Due for release during Feb.

  11. RSS changes to lists

    Academics- particually those that share edit rights; or where the academics are editing the lists dynamically; it is important to allow an easy 'watch this list' type funtion. RSS seems the obvious way but there may be others ...

    Users can now subscribe to an RSS feed per list or one covering changes for the whole tenancy

    Rather than just allow direct URL links or browse an ever changing structure of the Uni it would be good if Aspire offered a search within our tenancy for specific lists.

  13. Acquisitions Reporting

    An essential part of Aspire will be the Acquisitions Reporting. Although- hopefully not a 'new idea' as such (Sussex and I expect other universities have discussed ideas around the Acquisitions Reporting with the development team) I thought it would be useful to open this idea out for discussion here to get an idea of how this part of Aspire will be developed.

    How do you see the Acquisitions Reporting working? Is tagging individual resources an option? Would academics have the option to indicate how many copies to buy? Can 'not in stock' items be highlighted in some way on the…

    There is now an Acquisitions review report where users can query by date added, item type and importance. Data can also be exported to CSV for offline processing.

  14. ISBN Look Up when Bookmarkleting

    A Look Up feature- similar to the DOI one would be useful to populate the bookmarklet form if the author / title details are not imported. Possibly a 'look up' using the ISBN to search COPAC?

    This feature is complete but we are beta testing it with a small group of academics before making it generally available. This is so we can ensure the import is working for a wide range of situations.

    You can now do a CSV export of a list from the list outline page

  19. Recommendations management page

    It would be good if there was an Aspire page which could be accessed by all those with the authourity to approve a recommendation. This page would have Approveed or Rejected.

    Standard emails; pulling information from the requesteer's details and the details of the requested items would then be automatically sent. Those approving or rejecting would be able to edit the email.

  20. Recommendations rejection update

    Reasons why a recommendation is rejected should be given - selected from a pull-down list. Reasons could include:

    Insufficient funds
    Out of print
    Unavailble to the University
    Already in stock
