  1. The forest hill Condos

The forest hill Condos will be located at 859 Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto. This modern condominium residence will stand 16 storeys high with 253 mixed sized condo units. The project is currently in registration for pre-construction.

Demand at Bathurst and Eglinton has remained high for years and with the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT nearing completion, demand is expected to grow exponentially. The forest hill Condos will have the luxury of a new station at its doorstep. Literally, access to the new station is just a 1 minute walk away. With transit growth comes value growth and investors as well…

  2. Add a search function to the Create & Add to List form

When adding an item direct into a list it is often difficult to search for the list required in the Add to list drop down menu. For most of our staff there are dozens of lists to search through. It would make it easier if there was a search function or the facility to type part of the list name to reduce the number of options.

  3. Create new resource format "Article without Authentication"

We would like a new resource format “Article without Authentication” to be made available.
This would be used as a resource format for bookmarking free journal articles from the web but would not add in article authentication.
Since more and more journals/articles are available from open access sources it removes the issue of having to continually update EZ Proxy authentication.
This would also get around the problem that EZ Proxy authentication is added in after the Reviews stage, and that authentication issues may only be visible from the student view.
There are certain courses such as journalism that use huge…

  4. Bookmarking with Multiple URLs

It would be useful if we could add multiple URLs to a bookmark, whereas currently we're restricted to just one.

In instances where we have the same title electronically from different suppliers, it could reduce turnaways due to running out of credit. It could also allow for instances where a single bookmark requires separate URLs for different volumes.

  5. Exception List when bookmarking

We would like a resource exception list so, when bookmarking from specified resources, TARL does not check the local LMS or OpenLibrary for metadata.

We have a resource called Safari Online, it contains lots of IT books. Sometimes, when trying to bookmark to the title level or chapter level, if the item is found in our LMS or in openlibrary, the metadata from these systems will be used instead of the Safari resource. The main fustrating thing about this, is that the URL to the item is not added to the bookmark. The academics adding items ot the list, need…

  6. Saving bookmarks before deleting items in new list view

It would be useful to have the 'add to my bookmarks' function on the edit view, so that you can save the bookmark in case of later need on that view before deleting an item from the list.

Currently, to save the bookmark you need to be in the published view and then switch to the edit view to delete the item. It would be useful to have this all available in edit when working on lists which have been added without bookmarks already in place.

  7. Adding a bookmarked item to multiple lists

It would be really useful to be able to add a bookmark to several lists at once. For example a new edition is being added to a list but they still need to keep the old edition as well, being able to add the bookmark to several lists at once (and publish the changes) would be wonderful.

This was an idea someone else submitted back in 2014, but we've had requests from academics and also as part of some changes to our acquisitions processes that have meant i'd like it to be reconsidered.

To be able to find and replace all instances across lists is something we are considering within our continuous improvements. We are keen to understand the importance of such a feature across the user group so encourage others to consider this idea and support if it is something that they feel strongly will have a positive impact.

  8. Bookmarking on iPads

Our academic staff are all being given iPads at the start of the 2018/19 session and will be encouraged to use these as much as possible

It would be really great if a bookmarking tool could be developed for Safari on iPads (or possibly even a list management app?!?) so that we could give our academic engagement a real boost.

We are working on bookmarking functionality alongside our List Edit improvements, this will reduce the reliance on the bookmarklet feature and enable more resources to be accessible in the List Edit context. When this feature is released, we will revisit this idea to understand if it still has relevance.

  9. Allow all bookmarks under the 'bookmarks' tab to be exported to excel/word/other formats beyond just ris to allow for greater flexibility

We would be interested to understand the use case for this, so what will enabling more exports allow the user to do that they can’t do today? Is that a benefit for library staff, academic or student. If you can update this idea with your thoughts and we can then review.

  10. Importing RIS files into existing lists

We would like to be able to import bookmarks created from RIS into existing lists rather than just new lists

  11. Creating a bookmark and adding item (direct) to a list

When creating a bookmark and adding item (direct) to a list, enabling either ‘search’ function for the list or list them alphabetically or by most recently used. If you have many lists it can be hard and time-consuming to locate your list.

  12. Automatically bookmark videos as "Online Resources"

During our pilot phase, we've noticed that when academics add YouTube or BoB videos to their lists, they generally forget to tick the "Online Resource" box - possibly because they are used to it happening automatically when they bookmark, e.g., articles and ebooks.

It would be useful if online videos could be automatically recognised as "Online Resources" by the bookmarking tool.

At present this does not happen because "audio-visual document" resource type can include, e.g., DVDs listed on a Library catalogue (not an online resource). However, could there not be a workaround similar to the one for ebooks (see: http://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/205644351-How-the-Online-Resource-button-works)

  13. Copying bookmarks

This suggestion relates to an extension of the facility to copy over bookmarks, as it would be usful to have the option to copy over the notes (associated with any bookmark), in addition to its importance level.

  14. New editions displayed when bookmarking

In reviews 2.0 and dashboard analytics there is an alert which shows that newer editions are available. Would it be possible to display this functionality to academics when they are bookmarking

  15. Differentiation between Chapters and Extracts in Reading lists to enhance integration with TADC requests

We use Chapter/books in reading lists, then when digitisations are requested it is assumed they are complete chapters when we might only want a small section. or sections of the book. We would like the option to add extracts/sections here. At present we can only add one page range and we would also need multiple page ranges to be added
. When we then request a digitisation, the correct section rather than complete chapter would be selected thereby hopefully lessening the number of referrals needed in TADC.

  16. Editing the note on a bookmarked item

At present it is possible to add a note to an item at the point of bookmarking, but it isn't possible to edit or delete that note after the bookmark has been created. It would be useful to be able to do so.

    backlog  ·  Keji Adedeji responded

Whilst we would like to make this improvement, it is currently not in our near term focus, so I’m moved it to the backlog to reflect this. idea has been moved to our backlog Ideas may be graduated from the backlog as we get through the ones that are planned.

  17. Deleting bookmarks

If you create lots of lists, as library staff at Stirling do, then you create hundreds and in some cases thousands of bookmarks. We'd like to be able to bulk delete bookmarks which are no longer required. Currently you have to select per page of 25 and then remove from view from My Bookmarks This is very time consuming.

We may be able to do this as part of planned enhancements to bookmarking

  18. QuickAddBookmark sequence prompts to Create/Create and add to list

QuickAddBookmark is good but would be great if, rather than just creating a bookmark, it prompts to Create/Create and add to list.

At the moment, staff need to remember to add the bookmark to their list after creating the bookmark. If they drag & drop, they may forget to Set Importance which messes with our acquisitions workflow.

With Create/Create and add to list buttons at the end of the sequence, it would be instinctive to choose the list, set the importance, add notes to student/library etc. as required.

  19. Add publication date in bookmarks list

Year of publication is not displayed in the list of bookmarks. This is particularly important to academics as units often use various editions of the text book and need to be able to differentiate between the editions. Is it possible to add a column for Year of Publication in the bookmarks list?

Related to this, in My Lists, the date of publication needs to display in the bookmarks in the right column, to easily differentiate between editions when adding bookmarks to lists.

  20. Improvement of resource type

Some academics suggest to add 'Standard' (it is used as a resource type especially in the major of Science and Engineering) and 'Conference paper' in the item resource type
