  1. Warning re. live digitisations when deleting a list

    Would it be possible to warn a user that there are live digitisations attached to a reading list they are about to delete?
    We have had a few instances where people have created a copy list and deleted the original (accidentally or purposefully), without realising that there are live digitisations on the list.
    It looks from the TACC side that everything is fine (the module code, title, year etc are correct and the digitisations are live) but its only when we receive a complaint about lack of access that we uncover what has happened.

  2. View Online button to be made more noticable on new student interface

    Hello,
    We recently changed our branding at Northumbria, at the same time we moved to the new student view.
    Our brand is black and white, which unfortunately makes our View Online button not very noticable on the page, the button is based on the theme colour of the tenancy.
    We would like to explore ways to make the button more evident to users, for instance a black line around the button or go back to the blue online button.

  3. Method to lock\freeze lists while still being visible to students during and after roll over.

    We need the status of the list adding to the API, and therefore making it possible to retrieve archived, draft and published lists. Also the block plugin used in Moodle should be able to return archived lists. Currently the plugin loses access to the list.

    Currently for the reasons below the roll over process is problematic, we believe this would solve those problems:

    • Due to the process of resits and non-standard module dates it also means the archiving process cannot happen until after the start of the following year, meaning lists cannot be “frozen” at the correct time for…

    We are currently reviewing this idea as this is an interesting concept and one we would like to explore further. If anyone would like to add their use case to this ticket it would be helpful to understand all scenarios.

  4. Put a Google Analytics tag on the online resource button

    We've been asked to demonstrate whether there is any link between eResource usage and the Reading List System.
    While we can, with some work, demonstrate correlation, the general upward trend in eResource usage means we are ubable to definitively claim causation.
    If the 'online resource' button had a google analytics tag, allowing us to view not only how many times students look at lists but also how many times students are clicking on online resources from the list, we would be better placed to demonstrate value for money to university leadership.

  5. Bookmarking on iPads

    Our academic staff are all being given iPads at the start of the 2018/19 session and will be encouraged to use these as much as possible

    It would be really great if a bookmarking tool could be developed for Safari on iPads (or possibly even a list management app?!?) so that we could give our academic engagement a real boost.

    We are working on bookmarking functionality alongside our List Edit improvements, this will reduce the reliance on the bookmarklet feature and enable more resources to be accessible in the List Edit context. When this feature is released, we will revisit this idea to understand if it still has relevance.

  6. Add a request digitisation button in the review screen

    Could there be a 'request digitisation button' in the review process so that they could be requested as you go?

  7. tick box to allow us to change the priority of multiple items.

    We often have lecturers wanting to change the priority from Core to Recommended. The ability to select specific multiple items and change them in one go would be VERY helpful.

  8. Show review history in lists post rollover and in Reviews 2.0

    At present when lists are rolled over to a new time period or copied manually the 'review history' (in the list review drop down menu) does not rollover- it resets as a new list. Nor is this review history available to view in Reviews 2.0, only the previous review comments and/or alerts attached to bookmarks.

    The review history information (dates requested/completed/by whom) is very useful to view as part of the workflow and we would like to see the review history details rollover with lists year on year and also appear in Reviews 2.0 detail screen.

  9. Removal of duplicates from bibliography

    When you view list as bibliography it duplicates references where there are multiple bookmarks for the same item. It would be good to remove these duplicates so that if necessary academics can quickly produce a bibliography if necessary without having to edit it.

  10. Importing RIS files into existing lists

    We would like to be able to import bookmarks created from RIS into existing lists rather than just new lists

  11. Reviewing reading lists with draft changes

    When reviewing a published list with unpublished changes it would be helpful if there could be some indication of which items are unpublished additions. Otherwise you can have something on the review list which you can't find on the published version, which can get confusing for reviewers.
    The notification could say something similar to a list with unpublished changes e.g. 'this item is an unpublished change on a draft version of the list"

  12. Automatic email to an Academic when a review is requested

    Following feedback from one of our academics, regarding a lack of response from the system when a review is requested. I would like to suggest that an automated message, acknowledging when they have requested a review should be built into the system.
    It would be a good idea for each Library to be able to configure their own standard message, e.g. thanking them for submitting a review so that they have a record of when the review was submitted.

    Ideally we would like to add information about how they publish their lists and attach information as to how they attach…

  13. Is it possible to delete the notes added to items in the review section

    We make extensive use of the note functionality in our processes - collections assistants append notes on decisions to inform librarians and overseas colleagues of purchasing decisions. Some items end up with dozens of notes and when we make a mistake we have to add another note to say ignore the above note. Can we delete them instead?

  14. Change “Request Review” to “Request Library Review”

    Currently, many academics are confused by the “Request Review” button because the text that explains it (i.e. that a review is something the Library carries out, and that the Library needs to be asked to carry out a review whenever a list is amended) is not very prominent. Hence many academics never send their lists for review. It would help if the wording of the button itself was changed from "Request Review" to “Request Library Review”.

  15. Automatically bookmark videos as "Online Resources"

    During our pilot phase, we've noticed that when academics add YouTube or BoB videos to their lists, they generally forget to tick the "Online Resource" box - possibly because they are used to it happening automatically when they bookmark, e.g., articles and ebooks.

    It would be useful if online videos could be automatically recognised as "Online Resources" by the bookmarking tool.

    At present this does not happen because "audio-visual document" resource type can include, e.g., DVDs listed on a Library catalogue (not an online resource). However, could there not be a workaround similar to the one for ebooks (see: http://support.talis.com/hc/en-us/articles/205644351-How-the-Online-Resource-button-works)

  16. Creating a bookmark and adding item (direct) to a list

    When creating a bookmark and adding item (direct) to a list, enabling either ‘search’ function for the list or list them alphabetically or by most recently used. If you have many lists it can be hard and time-consuming to locate your list.

  17. Preset metadata fields for 'Has Part/Part Of'

    Would it be possible to have a number of preset fields that were automatically generated after selecting resource type?

    For example, after selecting chapter or article, could Aspire automatically generate fields for author, pages, date, web address? And then adding volume and issue when selecting article.

    And also have a different set of preset fields for book, journal etc in 'Is Part Of' if creating a bookmark from scratch.

    It would be a great time saving feature for our team here if it was possible. It would also encourage accurate and complete metadata on every bookmark.

  18. TADC number in reviews

    Currently in reviews beta the status of any digitisation requests appears (live, referred, rejected etc.) but it would be useful if the TADC number could be displayed. It would be even better if this number could be linked to the TADC request page to enable quick access to the request info.

  19. Book chapter read status/notes

    We have had negative student feedback relating to book chapters which have come from the same original bookmark. Setting a Read Status changes for each mention of the book made from the same bookmark. Bookmarks need to be unique for separate notes to be added, so if the individual chapters have been added from the same initial bookmark, then the notes added for each will overwrite the previous. We would like the option for Read Status and notes to be recorded against a single bookmark instead of all instances of the bookmark.

    Using the ‘Has Part’ does create a new resource ID and they would behave as you suggest so that students can log notes on individual items. The current being able to add a ‘Has Part’ has been designed with this scenario in mind. It maybe this action itself that needs improvement to make it easier for Academics to flag chapter references. We will continue to monitor the idea and if there is significant support we will of course review.

  20. Undo button

    It would be useful to have an "undo" button, like in other programs, when editing reading lists. This has been suggested by academics as well as other library staff, as of course would be useful if you made a error and needed to "undo" it.
