  1. Including Time Period in list name

Now we have rolled over I have been handed a few queries around the problem of having 2 lists of the same name in the My Lists page. When using the 'Create and Add to list' function and the dropdown to attach a list to a node, it simply lists the modules by name, no indication of which year the list is for, making it hard to tell which list you are adding things to.

I think that in these situations (i'm sure there are more but these are the two I have come across) the timestamp should be tacked…

I agree, time period is currently visible in the My Lists page. However, it would be useful to display it elsewhere e.g. ’Create & Add to List" and User Profile page. I added this to our backlog sometime ago and we just have to work through our priorities to get to it, but it is in the backlog of things to get done

  2. Add archive options at rollover

We want to be able to pick by school or department whether or not we want to automatically archive the previous time period's lists at the point of rollover.
(We've not done a rollover yet so haven't seen the screen in order to add further details/requests, but I understand from Support this isn't possible.)
    Thanks.

  3. Ability to search on time period as well as

In some cases we have several instances of a course (same course code and title) but for different time periods. Now that we are assigning a list to a time period, when you search by title is difficult to select the correct year. Previously we added 'Spring 2010' etc after the list title and course code.

When using the search box, users need to be able to select academic year / term.

  4. Allow an administrator to bulk rollover lists to a new time period

An administrator specifies a "from" period and a "to" period, and then asks the system to perform a bulk rollover.

The system finds all lists that are currently assigned to the specified "from" period that haven't already been copied manually and assigned to the specified "to" period. For all given matches, the system creates a copy of these lists and automatically assigns them to the "to" period.

For example, the following lists exist before rollover (list name/time period shown):

"Financial Accounting and reporting", "Autumn Term 08/09"
"Advanced Financial Accounting and reporting", "Autumn Term 08/09"
"Advanced Financial Accounting and reporting", "Spring…

  5. Implement time periods within Aspire

Allow an administrator to specify a list of time periods in Aspire. A time period is made up of a label, a start date and an end date (example - "Autumn Term 10/11", "1st Sept 2010", "31st December 2010").

List editors will be able to optionally assign a list to a given time period.

The time period will be visible from the list outline view, and also within the linked lists table on the module view.

An extension of the linking API will be developed so that the VLE can link directly to all lists for a given time period,…

With the completion of the API work this is now complete

  6. Allow a user to rollover a single list to a new time period

A list editor can manually elect to rollover a single list to a new time period.

This is in essence an optimisation of the copy functionality - a copy of the source list is taken with the option for the user to select a new time period.

This will now be possible from the Copy List view which will allow you to make a copy of a list and migrate it to a new time period
