  1. Allow institutions to customise cover sheets

    We would like the ability to add the following to the cover sheets of digitised extracts:

    1. An institutional logo and title/name
    2. Header text
    3. Footer text
    4. Customise fonts and colours

    This would allow us to render cover sheets close to institutional style guidelines, so that they look appropriately "Lincoln".

    Header & footer text would allow us to include contact details, etc.

  3. Ability to send e-mail notification to more than one person

    When a reading is supplied, as well as e-mailing the requesting lecturer we would like the option to notify other people at the same time, for example subject librarians (to inform them that material has been supplied) and other lecturers teaching on the same module.

  4. Suppress "Request Digitisation" for some modules

    We have a lot of partner courses, many of whom are taught at least in part by UW academic staff. We have identified some potential new overseas courses where we cannot digitise content, but where we may hold an Aspire list. For these modules, we would like to have the Request Digitisation button to be suppressed so that lecturers cannot place requests that we then need to remove.

  6. Internal calendar with custom reminders

    The option to have an internal calendar with all the requests visible, a custom option for setting reminders and flagging alerts would be very useful. This would allow users to check when something is needed and remind the user, say, two weeks before the request is needed then a week later another notification or alert to tell the user this request is needed in 7days.

    This would be a great way to see all request and keep track of them with no worry that you will miss a request out.

  7. Report on Items not owned

    Would it be possible to generate a report of requests for extracts from Journals (and books) NOT OWNED by the institution.
    The Librarians would find this useful as they may wish to consider subscribing to a Journal if it is being used heavily.

  9. Resource type for digital extracts

    In the reading list module is it possible to have a resource type specifically for digital readings?

    We need to be able to identify digital readings on any particular reading list and the existing options (chapter, article, document) all apply to other types of material as well as scanned readings.

    We saw a similar request in the reading list ideas forum. We will not be focusing on this idea as the digitisation is a delivery mechanism and is not the resource type.

  10. Optional Request Digitisation button next to Books and Journals

    We have a number of lecturers who instead of creating a chapter or article record on TARL, use the TADC Request Digitisation on a book or journal record and filter using the prompt boxes to identify the chapter or journal article they want. Unfortunately they type 'chap 1' or '1' instead of the chapter title and don't always include page numbers. My team have to find out and input the correct information on TARL and request again using the chapter/article record.

    With the changes we are making to the List Edit interface in reading lists it will become far easier for an academic to be clearer when they are requesting articles and chapters. We will also be reviewing bookmarking to see how it can become easier to bookmark chapters and articles. Therefore we are declining this idea.

  11. naming convention Course or Module

    In our set up, Reading Lists will be for a Module. When a Digitisation Request is made the form has a tab for "Course details". This actually requires the module details (to us a Course is a degree programme, consisting of a numbe rof modules). Librarians here, agree that this is going to be very confusing for our academics. Can the term "course" be changed to "module" or can this be customised?

    After reviewing we are declining this idea as course does cover all terminology for all universities. We have found each universities refers to modules, units etc differently so leaving as course prevents confusion.

    This is also common terminology in RRO’s when it comes to reporting.

  12. TADC request view including date of request

    The requests view on TADC currenlty shows 7 fields, none of them beeing the date of request.
    The date of request can only be seen once we go into the request itself and scroll down to the Worklog.
    As we work through requests in order of arrival and consider our internal service levels it would be very useful to have the date of request visible whenever we are on any of the requests lists.

    If this is not something other institutions would find useful, could the change be made for the institutions that want this?

  13. Ability to move/minimise the Request Digitisation box

    When you click on 'Request Digitisation' in a reading list, you can't move or minimise the resulting box to access the reading list behind it. It would be helpful if this box could have the same functionality as Microsoft windows e.g. minimise and move as there is no need for it to fixed in place.

    “This is is not currently in our near term development focus but purchasing workflows are something we would look to explore in the future

    It has been placed into moved to the longer term backlog.

    Ideas may be graduated from the backlog as we get through the ones that are planned. "

  15. Page sizing in pdf download

    Because the cover page of a downloaded pdf is currently of a fixed size, in the examples I've reviewed the scans themselves are far smaller images with large areas of black around each page (making up the screen space demanded by the cover sheet with large areas of black). Could the size of the cover page be dynamically calculated to match the scanned image, so that all pages appear 'full size' in the .pdf (PackTracker does this at present)?

  16. Customising the drop down filter names on TARL

    Ability to customise the drop down filter names to prevent academic confusion on terminology used.

    We call our copyright cleared scans on our reading lists "Copyright Cleared Content". We've spent a lot of time promoting this to our academics. The filter on TARL whilst really useful could be better if it could be customised for each HEI to reinforce their own promotional name for their copyright content. Currently it confuses our academics who are asking for an easier way to view their requests but don't realise that "Digitised Resources" refers to their "Copyright Cleared Content".

  17. TADC default view: requests needed anytime

    The default view on TADC Home page shows requests overdue.
    We would find more useful to have as a default view the requests needed anytime.
    The current view if not useful to as as we work through requests chronologically by order of arrival and not by when they are due.
    It is a bit missleading to see nothing on the default view to find out that actually we do have requests ... is just that they are not overdue.
    Having a view of all requests needed at any time will therefore be much more efficient fur us.

    We will not be focusing on this idea due to low votes, but it is possible to change from the default by selecting the “Needed anytime” option

  18. Alerts for a new digitisation request

    We are finding that as Academics are beginning to submit requests for digitisations from within their own lists on Talis Aspire, that it would be helpful if these requests could generate an email alert as with TA reviews to a central mailbox. We are having to timetable a member of staff to check this on a daily basis as we have found that requests have been missed as we weren't expecting them (particularly as we are not getting many through at the moment.) An option to switch an alert mechanism on would be helpful

  20. 'Needed by'

    Think it may be more useful to show an actual date rather than needed by 5 days, 8 days etc. Clearer to see exactly when a request is due, could then be sorted by date to show order in which they are needed by, earliest first...
