  1. Withdraw expired digitisations

    Currently expired digitisations can not be withdrawn, but there are situations where this functionality would be useful.

    We have been informed by our RRO that a certain publisher has asked to be excluded from our licence, and as such we need to remove any content from that publisher. We also need to prevent any future user requests from auto-matching with previously digitised material in the vault.
    This would also be useful for quality control purposes, and resolving issues that sometimes only become apparent in reports, after the digitisation has expired.

    • Bulk withdrawal of digitisations removed from reading lists

      At the beginning of each semester, lecturers are reviewing their reading lists and removing their digitisations .Library staff are then required to withdraw a large number of digitisations from the Digitised Content. The ability to bulk withdraw these digitisations with a standard notification to the lecturers would be really useful.

      • LCN reporting in TADC

        It would be really useful if the TADC reports included the Library control number from which the item was digitised. I know reading lists reports can provide the LCN so I was hoping the same could be implemented in TADC. This will help identify items in our library collection that have been digitised and ensure they remain in our collection and are not accidentally weeded.

        • Filter TADC request list 'All stages' by blank

          A team of us deal with TADC requests and assign stages e.g. Book on order. We would like the ability to filter the request list to see only the requests which haven't been assigned a status so we do not visit requests unnecessarily.

          • Naming of sections of a book when requesting digitisation rather than just having the page numbers

            Currently we are able to add the name of the chapter when requesting digitisation, but when we are using a section of a book instead there is no option to give it a name, all that is recorded are the page numbers. Sometimes academics give the section a name, or in the past we ourselves have given it a name eg. Extracts from......

            • Allowing to attribute a note/hashtag during request input

              It would be great if while requesting a digitisation for an item, we would be allowed to add a keyword or a hashtag. This way, we could keyword a request with, for example, 'week 1' or 'week 5'. This way, in the All request area, if you could filter/search it by keyword/hashtag it would be quicker to get to more urgent requests (I feel like this would be easier and better used than the need by date). Further, you could use the hashtag for things like 'accessibility' or to connect requests with a particular academic that has certain needs or…

                • A TADC API

                  Specifically for usage - prints, downloads and views. We have a project that is monitoring 7 modules - the usage of the items on these modules. We want to automate the gathering of data as much as possible. We can use the Talis linked data API to get the data. For hardcopy books we can use the LCN (which is the bib number in our LMS) to retrieve loans, reservations and renewals automatically, and we would ike to be able to look up TADC data for each request. An API seems the obvious solution.

                  • Batch digitisation requests for a course instead of individual item requests

                    Our users have suggested that it would more efficient if they could select multiple items on a reading list to be digitisited, using one request form - as a batch. When there is no change to the list each time period, they find it too time-consuming to re-request each reading individually and click through all the Request Form pages. This might be achieved via a tick-able check box that invokes one form with the same date and course fields for multiple items.

                    • Edit and pre-clear process during rollover

                      Why does no data stay in the fields when you Edit and Preclear a number of requests as it does when editing just one request?

                      It is useful to be able to see all the data and be able to change only what is necessary. This is often only one field such as student numbers or the requester. Whereas currently we have to re-enter all the field data as it opens as empty fields apart from the dates.

                      The process requires looking at one request anyway to see what the fields contain and what might need updating. Then you have…

                      • Make more user friendly to view scans from reading list

                        We've had feedback that after people click on the item in the reading list, they don't always see the message on the following page saying 'To view the digitised content for this item please log in’ as it is at the bottom of the page and appears quite small. Could this be made more prominent/ user friendly?

                        • Abiltiy to set the 'Needed anytime' request view as default on our homescreen

                          The 'Needed by' field in our digitisation request form defaults to the start of our academic year (currently 01/08/2016); however some academics, when placing requests, edit this to the date their course begins, which makes sense if not aware of how the system works behind the scenes. The TADC homepage defaults to showing the first, 'Overdue' requests tab (as 1st August was 6 months ago, everything automatically appears overdue...) so we have been missing these edited requests (even if they were placed longer ago). I only recently noticed this as we are about to start Semester 2 and somebody chased…

                          • Expand the TADC vault to all TADC institutions

                            As TADC cannot re-use the content of the DCS, TALIS should investigate the possibility that the vault content could be opened out to all TADC institutions, as allowed by the CLA’s TPTP licence. This would be a huge boon to both small and large TADC users, as it would reduce duplication, and allow for improved workflows.

                            • TADC search and reuse from the DCS

                              The ability of TADC to search for scans already undertaken as part of the CLA's Digital Content Store would be a huge boon to small institutions especially. Whilst TADC is a great workflow solution, it does not currently hold anything apart from 'our' content in the Vault. If we could source scans from the DCS, that would be hugely useful!

                                    An automated way of contacting all requestors to find out what digitisations they would like to have rolled over would be very useful. Currently this involves sending lots of emails to the requestors of digitisations, to ask which digitisations they want made available next year, which is rather labour-intensive and time consuming.

                                      Have the ability to run a report ( which checks for newer editions / e-versions before rollover. It might have to pick up items where last year the lecturer said they were happy with the older edition, but still let us know there were newer edtions after that?                                         Add the ability to request digitisation of legal resources.
                                        The addition of new legal and law resources types in reading lists is appreciated, but it is still not possible to request digitisation for these resource types.

                                        • Many lecturers want to upload a document of their own making can we have an easier way

                                          How can lecturers upload their own document? The only way at present is requesting it manually and fooling the system that it is a book and then asking for digitization but it would be better if there was an easier way.
